Pats on the Back

2 min read

– To the local churches, businesses and organizations that welcomed all on Wednesday or Thursday of last week for a free Thanksgiving dinner. It's always a good reminder to all of us to be thankful for what we have and to help when and where we can.

– To members of Wheeling Elks Lodge No. 28, as they once again are honoring local youth from this region as their Students of the Month. The October winners are Mariana Alkhouri and Jonah Nizami, both seniors at Wheeling Park High School. For November, the winners are Sarah Wilson and Landin Blakely, both seniors at The Linsly School.

This will go on through early next year, and culminate in a dinner where all the winners are recognized.

When it comes to championing local youth, the Elks stand head and shoulders above the rest. The community owes them continued gratitude for their recognition of local kids.

– To organizers of the local parades and other events that have taken place over the past week. These events, along with a nice dusting of snow, have allowed the Ohio Valley to quickly get into a holiday frame of mind. We know these are big undertakings each year, but the community truly appreciates the effort it takes for this to happen.
