Safeguard Ohio’s Taxpayers

1 min read

Buckeye State officials continue to pour money into an agreement with Honda to build in Fayette County, Ohio, in a joint project with LG Energy Solution of South Korea.

This time it is a $140 million economic development grant, a $10 million workforce grant, and $87 million to retool Honda's existing facilities. JobsOhio insists Honda and LG have committed at least $4.2 billion in capital investment to the two efforts.

There had better be some teeth in that agreement.

PTT Global Chemical was committed, too, to building an ethane cracker in Belmont County. That didn't pan out, and PTT was forced to pay $20 million back to JobsOhio. This agreement should have similar safeguards.
