Visiting the nation's capital is always an exciting experience. When you can pair that with a tour of the U.S. Capitol from a sitting member of Congress, the trip becomes much more memorable.
Three Wheeling Police officers -- Cpl. Gerald Mitchell and officers Brandon Hoehn and Patrick Ryan -- were in Washington last week for National Police Week events. As part of their visit they were escorted through the Capitol by U.S. Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va. Mooney explained to the officers how the House operates, and the process for a bill to become law. "He made it clear he supports us," Hoehn said of Mooney, "and he made clear his stance on things. It's always good to know your local politicians have your back on things."
Mooney deserves thanks for his efforts. That's what we need to see more of from our lawmakers.
