There's hardly a square-inch of downtown Wheeling that's not being impacted by the Streetscape project. While we all understand the importance of this work getting done, and the inconveniences it will cause to the motoring public over the next few years, it's also important to realize that downtown businesses still need your support.
How can you help? Stop in for lunch or order takeout from one of the many downtown restaurants -- all of which are locally owned. Visit the specialty retail shops on Market and Main streets.
Find ways to help our friends and neighbors make it through this challenging time.
City leaders have done what they could through relieving some taxes. Now it's up to the rest of us to do our part and shop, when possible, at the locally owned operations that are struggling downtown through this construction. Let's give them a hand up.
