– To Ohio County Clerk Mike Kelly, who was recently named the West Virginia County Clerk Association's Clerk of the Year. Kelly has been an indispensable resource to the 21 new county clerks in the state, who have called him for help on various matters. He also initiated and wrote legislation later introduced by West Virginia Senate Majority Whip Ryan Weld, R-Brooke, that eliminated the need to produce books of recorded documents. Documents now are scanned and electronically available to the public, saving Ohio County about $1,000 a month. Congratulations!
– To the various groups -- including the Free Bike Depot, Danielia Gummer, MPR Supply Chain Solution and the Hope Rises charitable organization -- for procuring and assembling a pair of tricycles to give Hunter Harris, 14, and Kyllie Endsley, 24, some cool new rides. The two, who have been diagnosed with autism, had trouble riding two-wheeled bikes. These tricycles have them on the roads and enjoying the outdoors.
– To the Seeing Hand Association, which recently handed out its first Bob Hicks Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships, named in memory of a late Seeing Hand Association employee, offer assistance to students who are blind or visually impaired to attend college. This year's recipients were Colton Ashbury, Sadie Macfarland, and Haley Nisperly. Congratulations to them and to the Seeing Hand Association for its service.
