– To those in the community who gave this year to the Salvation Army Red Kettle drive. Through your donations over the past few months, the kettle drive came up just $138 short of its $100,000 goal. That level of caring is what truly helps set the Ohio Valley apart and helps the Army continue its mission to "doing the most good."
– To the participants of the Marshall County Science Fair, held Thursday in Moundsville. Emily McBee, an eighth-grader at Moundsville Middle School, captured top honors in the event and also won first place in the category of Material Science with her experiment regarding materials and their insulating properties titled "Thermal vs. Sound."
"It was pretty exciting, but it was also scary," McBee said of winning. "I was not expecting to win."
McBee now will move on to a regional Science Fair competition.
A number of other students captured the top prize in their category as well. More than 100 students took part.
Congratulations to all the participants.
