Biden’s LNG Moratorium

2 min read

U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pennsylvania, is right -- the Biden administration's move to halt liquefied natural gas exports impedes job creation, erodes national security and is yet another attack on American energy independence. The impact will be felt throughout the tri-state region.

Meuser addressed in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette many of the measures the White House has taken against energy development during President Joe Biden's tenure.

Some of the most concerning include a moratorium on natural gas leases in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, implementing new taxes on the energy sector and adding more burdensome steps to gas pipeline infrastructure.

Meuser also accurately notes that the new limitation on exporting American LNG leaves Europe more dependent on hostile dictatorships to meet their energy needs -- including Russia.

"The global uncertainty caused by Biden's pausing of LNG export projects hinders our ability to bring American natural gas to the world market and limits the economic and strategic advantages the United States can provide our allies," Meuser wrote.

We hope the efforts of Meuser and his pro-development colleagues -- a bipartisan group working in Washington to grow America's energy platform -- are successful in reorienting the White House in favor of an industry that can provide stability to our international allies, help isolate our adversaries and create jobs and economic opportunities in our own communities.
