Don’t Pass Up the Chance To Make Your Voice Heard

2 min read

For West Virginians needing to register to vote or update their voter registration information for the November general election, time is quickly running out

Those needing to register have only until Tuesday to get that done. Voting is among the most important actions we as citizens can take. It is our opportunity to shape our governments, from federal to state to local. Like what you're getting out of government? This is your chance to keep it going. Desiring a change? This election is your chance to make your voice heard.

Ohio County took in about 200 new voters during September, according to Erin Witchey, coordinator of elections in Ohio County. That's great to hear that county residents share that belief that elections are important and are putting those beliefs into action. More should follow their lead.

Those wanting to register can apply or update their voting information online at GoVoteWV.com. They also can apply in person at their respective county clerk's office, though Ohio County residents register to vote at the county commission office at the City-County Building, 1500 Chapline St., Wheeling.

It's a simple task, one that opens the doors to allow residents their chance to actively participate in the electoral process. Don't let that chance pass you by. If you're not registered in West Virginia, please get it done.
