Bordas Tops List At Wheeling Park

2 min read

Alexis Bordas continues to leave her mark on the record books at Wheeling Park High School.

Bordas, a senior star of the girls' basketball team, recently set the school's all-time scoring mark. During a game against Westerville South High School in Columbus, Bordas topped Dee Davis' 44-year points record of 1,854, and that happened only four games into her final year.

Needless to say, Bordas' record will simply grow over the coming months.

"It's definitely a great accomplishment. I am very happy that I was able to achieve it," Bordas said. "It was one of my individual goals coming into Wheeling Park High School. Even though I'm happy with the record, team goals always come first, so that's what I'm focused on the most."

Those team goals include another state title run this year. The Lady Patriots are the returning West Virginia state champions, topping Morgantown last year in the title game. The team finished second in 2023, dropping a thriller that year to Morgantown, and in Bordas' freshman year, Wheeling Park made it to the semifinals. Hoisting a second state crown would be the icing on the cake.

"I can't even put into words what (Bordas) has meant to our program. She's not just a scorer as you saw tonight," Wheeling Park head coach Ryan Young said. "She does a lot of rebounding, handles the basketball a lot for us and that is just getting her ready for the next level."

That next level is at Duquesne University for basketball and an exceptional education. But before that, West Virginia's two-time Gatorade Player of the Year will just keep scoring and leading her team toward a state title.
