Make Ohio Shine Bright
With the summer season underway, state officials hosted an event last month to celebrate Ohio Tourism Day. Hundreds of exhibitors and attendees gathered in Columbus as a kind of pep rally to kick off the season.
“The experiences you’ll have in the Heart of it All are unmatched–and so is their impact,” said Gov. Mike DeWine. “Whether you’re paddling through Hocking Hills, watching the sun dip below Lake Erie, or sitting down to a five-star dinner in Over-The-Rhine, you’re a part of something much bigger. Tourism brings serious dollars into Ohio and breathes life into our communities.”
No doubt communities across the Buckeye State can think of their own treasures. Whatever it may be, there’s something special that we know will bring a little boost for the season.
“When people explore Ohio, they start to see more than just places to visit. They see opportunity,” said Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel. “Tourism helps visitors and residents see the energy in our cities, the pride in our communities, and the potential to build a life in Ohio.”
It’s not the way they feel after they get off the roller coaster or the trail that matters. It’s the way visitors feel when they stop somewhere for dinner or decide to take a little shopping detour that lets them see what we’ve got to offer here.
Now we dive into a season that truly lets Ohio shine. We must be sure our guests know our communities shine, as well.
