Steenrod Earns Its Blue Ribbon

Another Ohio County school earned yet another major honor this week, as Steenrod Elementary was named a West Virginia Blue Ribbon School for its overall excellence.

Principal Michelle Dietrich said the school was on its way to National Blue Ribbon honors before they were notified that U.S. Department of Education was shuttering the program.

Regardless of who is handing out the award, Steenrod is more than deserving. Long considered one of West Virginia’s top elementary schools, Steenrod has continued its great work. A veteran leader in Ohio County Schools, Dietrich has done a wonderful job, as has her faculty and staff, in cultivating an effective and successful learning environment for our children.

And it’s another feather in the cap of Ohio County Schools, which can proudly boast its second Blue Ribbon School since 2023, when Ritchie Elementary won the honor.

As the school district continues to show its commitment to its students, Ohio County parents should in turn keep showing their commitment to the teachers and staff who work hard every day to make sure their children continue receiving a quality education.

The proof is in the trophy case, and Steenrod just added to it.

Starting at $2.99/week.
