Bravo, Festival of Sound
Wheeling Park High School dazzled with yet another group of performances last weekend with its “Festival of Sound,” the annual holiday concert that brings together many of the components of the school’s performing arts department for one big spectacular.
The school’s concert band, strings program, steel drums and choirs all combined for a wonderful display of their talents. While Mother Nature decided not to cooperate — bad weather cancelled the Sunday performance — everyone involved put everything they had into Friday and Saturday’s shows to give audiences a fantastic time.
These performances not only showcase the skills of the students, but also the commitment of Ohio County Schools to its arts programs. In a time where performing arts finds itself on the chopping block in school districts elsewhere around the country, Ohio County remains devoted to cultivating a love of the arts among its students.
That devotion allows for Ohio County students to wow family, friends and others each year with standout performances, not just in music, but in theatre and visual arts as well.
So take a well-deserved bow, Patriots. And keep up the good work.
