Job Fairs A Big Plus

School districts around the Ohio Valley have done well for their older students in holding job fairs over the past month. Both Wheeling Park and John Marshall high schools have hosted such events, which give their students a closer look at potential jobs and careers.

“The beautiful thing about this event is that we have businesses and organizations that have opportunities for volunteering, for internships, for apprenticeships, full-time jobs, part-time jobs, summer employment, year-round employment,” said Julie Schultz, Wheeling Park High Schools innovation coach and graduation coach.

These fairs aren’t just for the college-bound students. There have been plenty of trade organizations and other groups who have come to these fairs and shown students there are good careers out there for those who aren’t interested in 8 a.m. college humanities classes.

It’s good to see local school districts give that kind of a boost to every student in their hallways. Hopefully, those kids will take advantage of them.

Starting at $2.99/week.
