The announcement of a new WVU Medicine outpatient clinic coming to The Highlands shows us a couple of things. One, it shows us that the services WVU Medicine is providing are being used to a point where expansion is necessary. It also shows us that WVU Medicine is being proactive in accommodating its patients by opening a new, easily accessible space to offer those services.
When completed, the new space at the Highlands will offer urology, ophthalmology, orthopedic sports medicine, rapid care and primary care services, as well as opportunities for laboratory work and diagnostic X rays.
"By bringing multiple specialties together in one convenient location, we're improving access, enhancing the patient experience, and continuing our commitment to delivering exceptional care where our communities live, work, and grow," WVU Medicine North Region President Douglass Harrison said.
The Highlands site offers plenty of parking and one stop where patients can find many of the services they need. And if it sparks business at the Highlands at other stores, as Ohio County Commissioner Randy Wharton believes, that's a plus.
This new clinic is another example of WVU Medicine looking out for the people of this community, a community it considers its own.
