The Contraguerro family and their company, Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration, once again showed their love and devotion to the Ohio Valley community with a $150,000 gift to the soon-to-be-built WVU Medicine Golisano Children's Robert Sonneborn Family Pediatric Outpatient Center on the campus of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital. That donation will sponsor the center's new reception area.
And that's far from the first gift the Contraguerros and Panhandle have made to WVU Medicine or the Ohio Valley at large. The family and the company long have been champions of the community, especially when it comes to supporting the community's youth.
They've donated numerous times to WVU Medicine Golisano Children's to bolster its work in Morgantown, Wheeling and elsewhere. They donated $500,000 last year to help renovate Wheeling University's Bishop Schmitt Field. For the last two years, Panhandle has been one of the sponsors of the Ohio Valley Splashtacular, which benefits Easterseals Rehabilitation Center. And they've been longtime sponsors of youth sports teams throughout the area.
The Contraguerros have built Panhandle into a trusted and successful business, and they have never been hesitant or shy to share the fruits of that success with other organizations in the Ohio Valley trying to make a difference and make life better for the people in it. That level of community service is something for which the family should be proud and their community should be thankful.
Their latest gift to the valley won't be their last, and that's a good thing for the community.
