Reader Questions Office’s Approach to His Calls

Editor, News-Register:

The morning of Oct. 4, I read where the U.S. House of Representatives will not swear in newly elected Representative Adelita Grijalza. The article said something about the Epstein files.

I called Rep. Riley Moore’s office, 202-225-2711, about 9:38 a.m. that morning to ask why. The call was answered by a professional sounding male. As soon as he heard the word Epstein he hung up. The call lasted 20 seconds. I thought the line was cut and called back at 9:39 a.m. The same gentleman answered. He recognized my voice and hung up again. This call lasted 13 seconds. I called again at 9:39 a.m. The same gentleman hung up again.

I then decided to call Rep. Moore’s office in West Virginia, 304-350-6995. I got a recording that lasted 40 seconds. That’s when I remembered it was Saturday and I left a message.

This sequence of events raises two disturbing questions.

Is hanging up on a constituent the appropriate behavior for a Congressional office? Does Rep. Riley Moore have something to hide?
