Editor, News-Register: I am writing as a rider on the buses. There is always a homeless man sleeping on the bench. He is constantly there. He leaves his blanket and pillow. No one can sit on this bench ... because he is living on it! Can someone look into this? Can he go to a shelter to sleep? These benches are here to sit while waiting on the bus. Editor, News-Register: Regarding the present financial problems at West Virginia University, the answer would seem to be adequate funding from the State Legislature. There always seems to be a budget surplus. But, sadly, the Republican super-majority is engaged in what Phil Kabler of the Charleston Gazette-Mail calls “the systemic defunding of higher education.” Clearly, this is wrong. What can be done?
