Editor, News-Register: I’ve lived in Wheeling since 1978 and can say that, without a doubt, Wheeling is an amazing city! How many cities our size can boast of a symphony orchestra that consistently puts on wonderful concerts to please a variety of musical tastes, from classical to pops, not to mention their amazing July 4th concerts with guest artists? Warning on W.Va. Amendment 2

Editor, News-Register: On Nov. 8, West Virginia voters will decide whether to approve Amendment 2, which if approved, will allow the state Legislature to eliminate tangible personal property taxes for businesses as well as the personal property tax for vehicles, without an agreed upon plan to make up at least $500 million a year in lost revenue for counties, cities and schools. Election day is fast approaching and many of my friends, colleagues, and constituents have shared with me their concerns about these two dangerous constitutional amendments. Not Supporting Amendment 2

Editor, News-Register: I vote no on Amendment 2 as I agree with (Marshall County Commissioner) John Gruzinskas. I don’t trust Charleston politicians and bureaucrats. They are awash in cash — $1.3 billion in surplus, $427 million in the first quarter — and refuse to give us tax breaks. They talk until the session runs out but we get no tax refunds or breaks, just hot air. So they expect us to give them control of more money and they “might” be nice and give us some back!
