Editor, News-Register: Congratulations to the Wheeling Park High School and Wheeling Central Catholic High School golf teams who both won their respective class (AAA and A) state championships this week as well as WPHS senior Gavin Goodrich and WCCHS senior Justin Doerr who took home medalist honors. It was extra special to see The Intelligencer’s Thursday photo where both teams were posed together, arms locked around one trophy. Editor, News-Register: My life took a sudden turn for the worse about a month ago, Sept. 7, when a woman riding a bike with a cell phone to her ear on Wheeling’s Heritage Trail did not hear me say “passing on the left” and came over into me, causing an accident that led to a firetruck, ambulance, an ER visit, surgery, a week in the hospital, a bad case of bronchitis and pain and inconvenience. Our Nation Can Stop Bloodshed

Editor, News-Register: I want the United States to use all its wisdom, power and diplomacy to assist in ending the bloodshed in the Ukraine. A Yes for Amendment 2

Editor, News-Register: I understand how government works. We pay taxes so the government can provide us with services we need, such as public safety. But since West Virginia’s population keeps decreasing, shouldn’t the government need less money from us to provide those services since it’s for fewer people? You would think that is the case, but costs do go up. So here are your options. Oppose Amendment 2 and vote to pay more and more taxes in the future since we already know fewer will be paying for government services. Or, do the smart thing and vote for Amendment 2. ...

Editor, News-Register: When I read or hear that we are a nation of laws it’s all I can do to ignore. We have thousands of illegals crossing our border and being bussed, and given phones, money and whatever all at taxpayer expense. The war in Ukraine, inflation, and skyrocketing energy prices have demonstrated how essential the industry is to our daily lives.
