By JIM COCHRAN 5 min read

The staffs of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce and the Moundsville Economic Development Council will tell you that the month of November is one of their busiest times, and to back that up you need only to count the number of events going on this month.

The majority of the attractions will be held at the Moundsville Training Center, although others such as the Christmas Parade will be along Jefferson Avenue.

Among the other attractions will be:

The annual Tree Gala/Community Night event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the MTC. Santa will be present, and there will be music and goodies. The trees, wreaths and mantels, which will be auctioned at the same location on Thursday, will be on display. Santa will be there from 5-6:30 and those in attendance can have their photo taken with him.

The Tree Gala on Thursday will feature the auction of 15 decorated trees, six wreaths and four mantels, which will also take place at the Training Center. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Those planning to attend are to contact the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce at 304-845-2773.

The JMHS strings will entertain from 5-6:30 p.m. In addition to the food and auction there will be judging for an Ugly Sweater Contest. Those attending are asked to donate a new toy or make a monetary donation which will be given to the Marshall County Caring Tree. The event is being sponsored by WesBanco.

The Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a "Support Your Local Marshall County Restaurant Day" to be held on Nov. 18. Each of the restaurants will be given wrist bands to give to their patrons.

The annual Elizabethtown Festival will be held Nov. 19-20 at the Training Center. The hours are 4-8 p.m. on Nov. 19th, and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Nov. 20. This will be the Festival's 23rd year.

A November event is the annual Christmas Parade which this year will be held on Nov. 20. The route as usual will be along Jefferson Avenue from Second Street to Eighth Street.

And yes, if you would like to purchase a Christmas Tree you can do so beginning on Nov. 26 at the front lawn of the former prison. Staff members of the Moundsville Economic Development Council will start out with 125 trees and hope to sell them all.

In addition there be several decorated trees for viewing. Students from area schools will decorate these trees.
