The annual Marshall County Ham, Bacon & Egg Show and Sale is usually a fast-paced event, and last Tuesday’s was no exception, until Cameron High School Ag Teacher Hattie DeBold took to the microphone to announce that she had been asked to conduct a couple special sales, one of which to help McCracken. The highest bidder will receive a dozen brown eggs.
Auctioneer Tyler Faulk started off like any other sale, but it didn’t finish t when the “sold” was sounded as the person who had made the purchase wanted it to be re-sold.
As it turned out six others had the same idea–re-sale.
Of course, that meant one thing, more money for the McCracken fund.
By the time “Buyer No. 8” decided to keep the eggs $9,700 had been raised, and when one of the bidders added $300 it brought to $10,000 the final figure.
