Marshall Memo: Working ‘9 to 5’ at the Strand; Junior Golf; and Model Schools
The Strand Theatre Preservation Society of Moundsville will be holding a live theater attraction with its musical production of 9 to 5!, set to run July 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and July 30 at 2 p.m.

The 17th annual Honeywell Junior Invitational will take place on July 24 at the Moundsville Country Club.
It is a free event sponsored by Honeywell Corp. and the Moundsville Country Club.
All contestants must be between the ages of 8-18 and anyone 18 years of age must not reach their 19th birthday by July 24th.
The event will be an 18-hole stroke play with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The field limit will be 108 players with entries to be sent to the Moundsville County Club to attention Kyle Hill at 128 Country Club Drive, Moundsville WV 26041.

Several personnel matters were addressed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Marshall County Board of Education.
The resignations were those of Shawn M. Gottardi, teacher of Special Needs/Pre-K at McMechen Elementary; Kathryn L. Moore-Dierkes, teacher of English at Moundsville Middle; Carol Dianne Magers, Special Education Multi-Categorical Teacher at John Marshall; Justin C. Eikleberry, Golf Coach at Moundsville Middle and Sherrard Middle,; Zackary Palmer, Assistant Football Coach at John Marshall; and Jason D. Willis, Assistant Activities Coordinator/Department Head of Physical Education, John Marshall.

Alicia Ziman, coordinator from the West Virginia Behavior/Mental Health Technical Assistance Center in Charleston, was present this past Tuesday at the Marshall County Board of Education meeting where she presented that Moundsville Middle School had been named as the “Tier I Model School.”
In a letter to the school, Ziman explained why Moundsville Middle School was chosen as the best school in West Virginia. It read, “They worked consistently to make decisions in true support of their students and recognizing the best ways to meet their needs to drive them toward success. Understanding what it looks like to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe and these values are skills that students are learning to support their growth each day.”
Erin Cuffaro is the county Director of Special Programs while MMS Teachers are Mitchell Burkett and Tabitha Morgan.

Cameron’s 4th of July got underway Friday, with a 5K Race, Food/Games and music by Joey Adams, and today (Saturday), there will be continuation of events which will consist of a Parade at 1 pm., Fire-Fighter’s Water Battle at 4 p.m., Inflatables will take place from noon until 7 p.m.; DJ Doug Conner will perform from 1-6 p.m., music by the Ryan Waters Band from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. The fireworks display win begin at dusk.

The Marshall County FRN’s General Membership meeting will be held online at 11 a.m. on July 11.
The meeting is a way to share information and to learn about activities and programs going on in the community.
Each member who wishes to participate will have to briefly discuss their organization with updates during the meeting.

A free film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” will be held at noon on July 8 at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library.
It is an action-adventure-comedy family film featuring the blue hedgehog and starring Jim Carrey with “Dr. Robotnik returning to Earth.”

The next “Jefferson Fridays”sponsored by the City of Moundsville’s Arts & Culture Commission will take place on July 14 along Jefferson Avenue from 2nd to 5th Streets.
There will be live music by “ZackAttack ” along with winners from the Strand Theatre’s Got Talent Showcase.
The event will be free, and open to the public. The hours will be 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library will be closed this coming week Monday and Tuesday.
