Marshall Memo: School Board News, Storytelling and Fun Activities

For those having items they would like included in this weekly column, information can be emailed to bugs52@comcast.net. If you would like to mail information to me, I have a new mailing address. This past week, I moved to a new community in Hurricane, W.Va., called Celebration Villa. The staff and other residents are very friendly, and it just so happens that two individuals with ties to Moundsville also reside here. The address is 4000 Outlook Drive #145, Hurricane, WV 25526.

John Miller was re-elected as president of the Marshall County Board of Education this past Tuesday. It is the fourth straight time he has been named to the two-year term.

The vice president is once again Christie Robison. The other board members are Brenda Coffield, Lori Kestner and Dr. Duane Miller. President Miller said one of projects which the board members hope to undertake during the coming school year will be the awarding of a contact for the Natatorium at John Marshall High School.

The Marshall Board of Education will continue the availability of breakfast and lunch each day at all schools for all students regardless of income for the 2024-25 school at no cost. Under the community eligibility option, there will not need to be complete an application to be eligible for the free meals. The price for an extra milk will be .35 cents and a second lunch will be $1.70 and must be paid with cash at the time of purchase.
