The sixth installment of “LOOK” which is an acronym for “Looking Out for Our Kids” is set for Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the John High School Center for Performing Arts from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The presentation is titled, “A Suicide Loss Survivor Creating Change,” and Michelle Toman will be the speaker for the evening.
She created “Brother Up,”a foundation built as a result of her personally experiencing the loss of her brother, Jamie, by way of suicide. The organization’s goal is to make an impact on the world one person, one training and one conversation at a time. “Together, we can move the mission of saving lives and supporting those who’ve lost someone to suicide” Toman said.
Something as simple as a training can ultimately be the difference life and death. “It is crucial for those speaking out about suicide mental health, substance misuse, addiction, and anything trauma related, do so in a manner that creates a culture of help and hope,” explained Toman.
“LOOK” is free to attend and is open to the public, WJMH MediaBroadcasting student Audrey Ferguson will host the program.
