Marshall Memo: Christmas Parade, High School Drama on Tap
The theme for the Marshall County Christmas Parade will be, “Toy Trains and Candy Canes.” The parade date will be Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.
Those wishing to sign up need to contact the Marshall County Commission.
Of course, there will be other Christmas attractions, one of which will be on Nov. 13, the date for the “Christmas Tree Gala Fundraiser.” It will take place at the former West Virginia Penitentiary.

St. Jude Church in Glen Dale will have a rummage sale at its hall on Jefferson Avenue.
The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be a number of treasures there.

Ron Trowbridge Jr. was inducted into the West Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame this past Sunday at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston.
He joins nine other Marshall County wrestlers — Jim Potts, Bill Hinegardner, Ed Dugan, Emil Nardone, Larry Chambers, Ted Zervos, Tom Giovengo Sr. Joe Giovengo and Ed West — in the Hall of Fame.
Trowbridge graduated from Cameron High School in 1985. During his high school career he participated in both football and wrestling for legendary and Hall of Fame coach Jim Potts.
He was a two-time State Tournament and OVAC placer. During his senior season he finished with an individual state championship at 138 pounds. The team won their Regional Championship and finished as State Runner-up A-AA.
He graduated from West Virginia University in 1989 with a secondary education degree with certificates in biology and general science, He was also a member of the West Virginia University wrestling team. Trowbridge has been involved with the Cameron wrestling program for the past 47 years. He has been employed with Mountaineer Gas Company for 30 years. He currently serves as operation manager at the Wheeling Service Center.
Ron and his wife of 37 years, Amy, reside in Cameron. They have three children, Derek, Cassidy and Natalie. They are the grandparents of Enslee and Dutton.

Glen Dale Elementary students and staff will observe Veterans Day at a public program on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
The program will be held at Glen Dale Park and will feature musical selections and learning activities that educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country.
Following the program, the students will participate in a patriotic parade of flags.
The public is invited to join the students, faculty, and staff at Glen Dale Elementary School as they honor local veterans.

The annual Moundsville Baptist Church Harvest Festival will take place today (Nov. 2) at the church. There will be crafts, vendors, soups and pies, along with Izzy’s Food Truck.

American Legion Post No. 3 will meet at 8 p.m. on Monday at the Post Home.
Also, other acuities include the Auxiliary meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Honor Guard meeting and euchre at 7 p.m., on Wednesday; fish fry from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., on Friday; and Honor Guard steak fry from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Tickets for the Honor Guard steak fry can be purchased at the American Legion. The money raised will help continue flag display cases for a veteran’s burial flag and donations to veterans’ causes.

Marshall County Schools Assistant Superintendent Karen Klamut recently signed a proclamation that declared International Alpha Delta Kappa Month.
ADK is an international honorary organization, founded in1947, of women educators. The organization has more than 1,100 chapters in every state, nationally and around the world.
The text of the ADK proclamation signed by Klamut reads:
“Whereas: Women in education constitute a great portion of the nation’s working force, and are constantly striving to serve their communities and nation in educational, cultural, and charitable programs leading to harmony, happiness, and peace among all people and Whereas: major goals of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary for Women Educators are: *to give recognition to outstanding educators *to build a fraternal fellowship among educators adding in their effectiveness in promoting excellence in education *to establish high standards of education *to promote educational and charitable projects and activities enriching the lives of individuals everywhere and assisting these individuals into happy constructive and fulling lives.”

The Monarch Company of John Marshall High School’s fall production will take place today (Saturday evening), and Sunday afternoon, in the school’s Center for Performing Arts.
The production is called, “The Play That Goes Wrong” (High School Edition), written by Henry Lewis, Henry Shields, and Jonathan, and directed by Tracey Filben.
It is comedy about a play within a play that is full of disasters. It is opening night, and the Conley Drama Society is excited to present “The Murder at Haversham Manor.”
Cast members include Chloe Pickett, Jacob Boyette, J.J. Brown, Cheyenne Harvey, Ella Games, Kal-el Hill, Eli Ward, and Mylie Scott.
The production staff includes Jason George, Elaina DePetro, Tony Wood, Matt Ali, Megan, Gary, Ellen Crow, Lilly Berger, Olivia Bozenske, A.J. Tucker, Lizzy Howard, Gray Hunter, Grace Cline, Allison Twigg, Trinity Borchik and Ash Ruth.
