Marshall Memo: Cleaning Up; Resource Fair; and Finances
The annual Marshall County Spring Clean up has begun and will continue at various locations throughout the county each week through the end of May. Dumpsters will be available from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be no provisions at any location to accept tires, white goods, scrap metal, car parts, fuels, hazardous chemical, or household trash. Today (April 12) the locations are the VFD Headquarters on Roberts Ridge and Coal Mine Property at Rosby Rocks.
On April 26 the Limestone Fire Department and Sherrard Middle School will have dumpsters available. On May 3rd Todd Kelly Trucking in Washington Lands and the Graysville Community Center will be the clean up sites on these days. E- Recycling will be available on May 17 only at the John Marshall High School North Parking lot from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. This will be the location to dispose of 17 inch and smaller car and truck tires, white goods, electronics, computers, air conditioners, humidifies, and dehumidifiers.
No televisions will be accepted.
Please do not drop off items if a dumpster is not present. If you need more information, please contact the Marshall County Solid Waste Authority at 304-780-9866. This service is provided free for residential use and is not intended to be used by businesses or industry. Proof of residency required.

The Marshall County Board of Education will host the “All for One Resource Fair” from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday April 22, at the Marshall County Fair Grounds. There will be exciting games and activities, food trucks and refreshments, as well as crafts and workshops. In addition, resource tables will include the Marshall County Family Resource Network, Russell Nesbitt, WVDRS, Therapies, Attorneys, and Family Support. The Mission of the All for One Resource Fair is to empower children, teens, and their families by hosting an inclusive family event that fosters awareness, accessibility, and a sense of belonging for all.

The Marshall County Family Resource Network will host its next workshop in the 2025 Building Strong Families Workshop Series at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 at Center Elementary School, with dinner and childcare provided. The event is titled “Understanding Emotions” and is held in partnership with Megan Elliott of NAMI Greater Wheeling. This workshop aims to help parents understand the role of emotions in child development, share ways to identify their child’s emotions, and provide strategies to help children identify and manage emotions. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Moundsville High School Alumni Association will meet at the First Presbyterian Church to address and stamp hundreds of invitations for the all-school reunion to be held at the Reilly Event Center on Aug 30-31, 2025, which is Labor Day weekend.

From 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 a Free Financial Literacy Seminar will be held at the Marshall County Chamber located at 609 Jefferson Ave. in Moundville. Topics will include Budgeting, Build a Plan/Take Control; Credit, Understand It/Grow It/Protect It; How to Save, Small Steps/Big Rewards; Your Finances Online – Is it Safe, It’s Safe/Secure/Convenient. The Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Corp. is hosting a Mommy and Me Par-Tea from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Gateway Achievement School located at 37 Oak Ave. in Moundsville. There will be raffles, drawings, style show, pictures, and lunch. Tickets are available from Designs and Logos at 326 Jefferson Ave. and cost $25 for mommy/me and $10 for additional attendees.

Monarch Stadium Community Nights will be held each Sunday in April and May from 4-7 p.m.
The public is invited to walk, run, or kick filed goals during these hours. Please note that pets are not permitted to attend the events.
