Figaretti Hopes To See Medical Marijuana Industry Expand Throughout West Virginia
Enzio Figaretti, owner and operator of Country Grown Cannabis in Wheeling, says the business continues to grow each quarter since opening in 2023.
WHEELING — Enzio Figaretti, owner and operator of Country Grown Cannabis in Wheeling, believes his company is continuing to see success because of its great customer service and people learning more about the benefits of medical marijuana.
“We’ve seen an increase in every quarter since we opened, not only in revenue but foot traffic,” he said. “We’re seeing 10-15 new customers each week. The growth has been great. We have 4.7 stars on Google. We pride ourselves on customer service.”
Figaretti said though medical marijuana has been stigmatized for years, people’s thoughts on it are changing.
“I do think it’s changing and we’re hoping to provide a footprint to do that,” he said. “Education is a big part of what we do. We try to do that on a daily basis and show the good side of it.”
Figaretti said there are many physicians who will prescribe medical marijuana for their patients. But Country Grown also uses an online company, CannaHealRX, that can do medical assessments while people are inside the shop and get them a West Virginia medical marijuana prescription card that day.
“It’s a great resource. … We can do it in-store or we can give you the information and you can do it on your own,” he said. “The process of obtaining a card is affordable and simple. … It’s a safe and legal way to obtain medical cannabis for medicinal benefit.”
Figaretti said Country Grown is special because he believes it is the only 100% family-owned and operated dispensary operating in West Virginia.
Figaretti said his father, Dino Figaretti, instilled the importance of hospitality as a child growing up around the restaurant business. The family owns Figaretti’s in Wheeling.
Treating customers well and getting to know them keeps them coming back, helping them and the business, he noted.
He said Country Grown has a “welcoming and homey vibe.”
“We also have a drive-through for convenience,” he said.
Figaretti said all the marijuana sold at the shop is grown in West Virginia.
“We own a portion of a cultivation processing plant in Bridgeport, W.Va. And we purchase from six others in West Virginia,” he said.
Figaretti hopes to expand his staff and product lines in the future. He hopes West Virginia legislators will expand laws to allow medical marijuana edibles to be made and grown in the Mountain State.
“We hope to have an edibles bill passed this year,” he said.
Figaretti, 23, is single and a lifelong Wheeling resident. He opened Country Grown Cannabis in 2023. His family has operated Figaretti’s Italian Restaurant in Wheeling since 1948.
