WHEELING -- It was a career night for one of Wheeling Park's greatest players.
Alex Vargo couldn't miss as he poured in a career-high 34 points as Wheeling Park improved to 3-1 with an 88-63 victory over Parkersburg inside the Palace on the Hill, Thursday night.
Travis Zimmerman turned in 14 for the Patriots, while D.J. Saunders bucketed 12 points to go with his seven assists and four steals.
Magnolia 49, Ritchie County 33
RITCHIE -- The Magnolia boys basketball team improved to 4-0 as the Blue Eagles upended Ritchie County.
Qwailei Turner recorded a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Jake Gamble and Trevor Williamson each drained four 3-pointers as they finished with 14 and 12, respectively.
GIRLS
Wheeling Park 56, University 55
MORGANTOWN -- Wheeling Park held off a late University comeback to edge the Hawks and advance to 6-0 on the season.
The Patriots have now defeated both Parkersburg and University, who each played for the state title a season ago.
Bella Abernathy paved the way with 15 points, Lindsey Garrison charted 12 points and Shanley Woods delivered 11 in the win.

WHEELING -- Molly Heron garnered 15 points and Brinley Steen accounted for 10 as Linsly took down Monroe Central.
Beaver Local 76, Edison 30
RICHMOND -- Jenna Ricardo bucketed 29 points to lead Beaver Local past Edison.
Alysea Fiedorczyk turned in 18 points to pace the Wildcats.

SISTERSVILLE -- Caleigh Phillips scored with under 10 seconds to play to lift Tyler Consolidated to a one-point win over Ravenswood.
Phillips led the team with 17 points, while Bri Templeton cashed in with 14.
Valley 56, Paden City 40
PINE GROVE -- Brittany Kennedy recorded a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Valley over Paden City.
Kimberly Soles tallied 16 points and McKinlee Yoho delivered 15, while Rachel Bates pulled down 19 rebounds in the win.
Abbe Stackpole paced the Wildcats with 11 points.
Steubenville 57, Brooke 28
STEUBENVILLE -- Elxis Martin supplied a game-high 17 points as Steubenville trounced Brooke.
Madison Fields amassed 15 points for Big Red and teammate Kylie Maxwell chipped in with 12.
Bellaire 79, Harrison Central 34
BELLAIRE -- Lizzie McAninch poured in a career-high 24 points, giving Bellaire a much needed scoring boost its been looking for to complement Kat Davis, as the Big Reds topped Harrison Central.
McAninch drained four 3-pointers on the night as Bellaire improved to 4-3 with a game at Shadyside looming Saturday night.
Davis added 22 points for the Big Reds, who made 10 treys on the night.
McKayla Dunkle again paced the Huskies, this time scoring 18 points.

WHEELING -- William Yuan led the Linsly boys to wins over Weir, St. Johns Academy and John Marshall with victories in the 200 (2:10.21) and the breaststroke (1:10.38).
Chris Hoover paced the Red Riders with wins in the 200 IM (2:20.18) and the butterfly (1:02.49).

Victoria Kidney paced the Monarchs with triumphs in the 100 (55.32) and the backstroke (1:00.51).

"Coach Camp" Baker Tournament
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Barnesville emerged victorious in the girls' portion of the tournament conducted at St. Clair Lanes.
The Shamrocks posted a score of 1,546, 57 pins ahead of runner-up Harrison Central.
Buckeye Local was third, followed by Monroe Central, St. Clairsville, Union Local, Linsly, Martins Ferry and Bridgeport.
