PREP ROUNDUP: Shadyside Locks Up Top Seed in OVAC Class 2A Girls’ Basketball Tournament

BELLAIRE -- Tory Hendershot finished with 17 points, while Baylee Wach drained four 3-pointers on her way to 14 as Shadyside downed rival Bellaire on Monday in girls' basketball action to lock up the top seed in the OVAC Class 2A Tournament.

Sophomore Paige Gorby added 10 for the Tigers (15-5).

Katrina Davis netted 18 points for the Big Reds (14-6).

Monroe Central 67, St. Clairsville 58

WOODSFIELD -- Kalista Friday dropped in 29 points to go along with seven assists and four steals as Monroe Central topped St. Clairsville.

Amy Bettinger came a rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Haylynn Hiles added 13 points for the Seminoles (15-4).

Macy Malin paced the Red Devils with 17 points. Katie Strama and Alexis Thoburn each netted 13 points, while Keri Klinkoski scored nine points with 13 rebounds.

Magnolia 43, Madonna 35

NEW MARTINSVILLE -- Kyndra Pilant went for 21 points as Magnolia downed Madonna.

Jazzy Melnyk led the Blue Dons with 14 points. Vanessa Alatis added 12.

Steubenville 36

STEUBENVILLE -- Martins Ferry was on fire early on and the defense held Steubenville to one point in the fourth quarter in an impressive victory at the Crimson Center.

Richella Spielvogel and Shayla Schuster each netted 13 points to lead the Purple Riders (12-6).

Madison Fields led Big Red (11-6) with 12 points.

WINTERSVILLE -- Seniors Sloane Lewis and Ally Tweedy tallied 15 points in the first quarter, as the duo provided a much-needed spark to enable the Indian Creek girls basketball team to shake off a slow start as the Redskins bounced back from their first loss in a rout of Harrison Central.

Tweedy finished with 18 points and Lewis had 11. Makenzie Taylor added 14 for the Redskins (17-1) and Kylie Kiger 13.

McKayla Dunkle collected a team-high 12 points to lead the way for the Huskies (1-18).

Cambridge 66, Edison 41

RICHMOND -- Taylar Slaughter drained six 3-pointers on her way to 24 points and a Cambridge victory.

Alysea Fiedorczyk and Gracie Fox led Edison with nine points each.

East Richland 28

Kingsway Christian 21

ORRVILLE, Ohio -- Ava Bruner led the way with 13 points as East Richland Christian improved to 8-4 with a victory against Kingsway Christian School.

Cameron 51, South Harrison 48

LOST CREEK -- Lily Neely went for 21 points and nine rebounds as Cameron edged South Harrison.

Aubre Loy added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Dragons (10-5).
