Nester Leaves Virginia Tech For West Virginia

Former Virginia Tech offensive lineman Doug Nester announced on Monday that he was transferring to West Virginia University.

Nester went to Twitter where he shared the news by simply stating, “Merry Christmas everyone! I’m coming home.”

Nester, a four-star recruit from Spring Valley, was heavily recruited by the Mountaineers in 2016 but decided on playing for Virginia Tech.

Better late than never.

Wyatt Milum, a former high school teammate of Nester’s recently signed with the Mountaineers, which could have also been a major contributing factor in his decision to bring his talents back home to Morgantown.

Walk-ons Graeson Malashevich and Owen Chafin are also former teammates of Nester, making his return to his home state somewhat of a homecoming.

Nester started in 16 games for the Hokies with 10 of those games coming as a true freshman.

He will be an upgrade on the Mountaineers’ offensive line and should instantly see time as a starter for coach Neal Brown and his staff.
