WVU To Play Northeastern on Dec. 29
The West Virginia men’s basketball team will face Northeastern on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at the WVU Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Mountaineers were originally scheduled to play Buffalo on the same date, but the Bulls had to cancel due to COVID-19 protocols in their program.
Northeastern sits at a record of 1-4 and have not played a conference game yet. It is in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Huskies are riding a three-game losing streak with their most recent outing being a 76-58 setback to Georgia.
The Huskies’ lone win of the season came against Massachusetts on Dec. 13 (78-75).
They will open conference play on Jan. 2 when they host Elon.
The No. 6 Mountaineers will look to bounce back after falling to No. 3 Kansas on Tuesday. After trailing 36-35 at halftime, the Jayhawks outscored the Mountaineers 44-29 in the second half to run away with it.
Led by Christian Braun’s 22 points, Kansas had five players score in double figures. Ochai Agbaji (11 points, 10 rebounds) and David McCormack (10 points, 11 rebounds) each supplied double-doubles.
Kansas also hit 16 shots from behind the arc.
The Mountaineers, who fell to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play, was led by Sean McNeil who tallied 24 points while Miles McBride tallied 19.
