All Starters Reach Double Figures in Wheeling Park Win

WELLSBURG -- All five of Wheeling Park's starters scored in double figures and the Patriots scored 31 points in the second quarter in a 75-54 victory over Brooke Thursday night in boys basketball action at Brooke High School. Avery Lee led the way for the Patriots with 20 points while Brett Phillips tallied 17 points.

D.J. Saunders supplied 13 points and dished out eight assists while Shaheed Jackson had a double-double (10 points, 13 rebounds). Beau Heller rounded out the double figure scorers with 12 points.

For the Bruins, Alex Isinghood tallied 23 points and Cole Sprerlazza had 13.

Doddridge County 49, Paden City 46

PADEN CITY -- Ty Cain had 28 points, but Paden City fell to Doddridge County.

Magnolia 11, Wheeling Central 1

WHEELING -- Karisa Postlethwait (two doubles, one single) and Oliva Stine (three singles) both supplied three hits as Magnolia cruised by Wheeling Central.

Madeline Delaney and Shy White both had two singles for the Blue Eagles.

For the Maroon Knights, Jessica Miller scored the lone run.

Steubenville 5, Wheeling Park 3

WHEELING -- Jules King fired 12 strikeouts and also had a triple and three RBI as Steubenville took down Wheeling Park.

For the Patriots, Lauren Fox had two singles and two RBI.

Shadyside 4, Toronto 1

TORONTO -- Shadyside scored three times in the top of the third inning Thursday in a win at Toronto.

Gentry Brown slammed a two-run homer and Tory Hendershot drove in a run with two singles for the Tigers.

Harrison Central 9, Beaver Local 4

CADIZ -- Harrison Central (11-2) continued their early scoring trend with a 5-spot in the bottom of the first inning in a win over Beaver Local.

Lizzy Clelland and Sarah Touville slugged two-run doubles while Jenna Young had a two-run single for the Huskies. .

Martins Ferry 13

Buckeye Local 1

MARTINS FERRY -- Ava Doyle drove in four runs with a single and home run as Martins Ferry defeated Buckeye Local.

Lauren McFarland singled twice and plated three runs for the Purple Riders.

Alexa Williams hit a home run and Josey Meddles doubled for the Panthers.

River 7, Monroe Central 1

WOODSFIELD -- River completed its home-and-home sweep of Monroe Central (6-7) as Katie Lively hit her fourth home run of the season, singled twice and struck out eight.

Steubenville Catholic 5

WHEELING -- Wheeling Central plated eight runs in sixth inning to take down Steubenville Catholic.

Nick Tsoras tallied two singles and two RBI for the Maroon Knights while Ben Foster belted a two-run double.

For the Crusaders, Ryan Anderson had two singles, one double and a RBI.

Wheeling Park 11, Steubenville 0

STEUBENVILLE -- For the second game in a row, sophomore Gian DeGenova belted a home run, while adding two singles and three RBI in a Wheeling Park shutout victory over Steubenville.

Dylan Gongola also joined the fun with a homer, a single and two RBI.

Luke Marsh delivered two hits and three RBI, while Chris Vargo and Michael Bittinger combined to keep Big Red scoreless from the mound.

Martins Ferry 11, Union Local 1

MARTINS FERRY -- Martins Ferry (6-3) exacted some revenge against Union Local.

Logan Smith had three singles and knocked in three runs, while Brayden Maine singled, doubled twice and plated a run.

Tre Rex had two singles and an RBI for the Jets.

Barnesville 2, River 1

HANNIBAL -- Seven different Barnesville players had singles in a win over River.

Brody Lollathin had two singles for the Pilots.

Toronto 15, Oak Glen 5

NEW CUMBERLAND -- Toronto scored 10 runs in the final two innings to secure a win over Oak Glen.

Evan Wolter tallied a single, triple and three RBI for the Red Knights while Brant Reeves had three singles and two RBI.

For the Golden Bears, Hunter Patterson and Danial Bridges had three singles.

RICHMOND -- Ian McBane tallied a double and plated a run in a win over Heartland.

WHEELING -- Rachel Simon (No. 2 singles, No. 2 doubles) and Taylor Broadwater (No. 4 singles, No. 3 doubles) won both of their matches as Wheeling Park defeated Linsly.

For the Cadets, Rachel Ekanem secured victories in both of her matches (No. 1 singles, No. 1 doubles).

Brooke 4, St. Clairsville 3

Brooke 5, Trinity 0

WELLSBURG -- Brooke picked up a pair of victories in the downing of St. Clairsville and Trinity.

Kaleigh Edgar won four matches for the Bruins. She won at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles with Mykenzie Findling.

WHEELING -- Braeden Keen (No. 1 singles, No. 1 doubles), Wyatt Andrews (No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles) and Ryan Quickel (No. 3 singles, No. 3 doubles) all won their singles and doubles matches as Wheeling Park defeated Linsly.
