Howard Nets 30 Points as Cameron Advances

CAMERON -- Conner Howard scored a career-high 30 points to help Cameron get a 79-36 victory over Valley in a West Virginia Class A Section One, Region semifnal matchup Tuesday night at Cameron High School in boys basketball action. Howard also hit eight 3-pointers for the Dragons while Trevor Beresford turned in a 16-point performance. He also had eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks for the Dragons.

Cole Burkett tallied 11 points and four steals.

For the Lumberjacks, Logan Bassett netted 11 points.

Cameron will host Madonna, which defeated Paden City in the sectional championship on Friday.

Madonna 71, Paden City 52

WEIRTON -- Lucky Pulice finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds -- both game highs as Madonna took down Paden City.

Matt Amaismeier shined with 16 points for the Blue Dons while Lennon Dietrich tallied 10 points, six boards and four assists off the bench.

For the Wildcats, Ty Cain led with 22 points. Joel Moore produced 13 and Carson Palmer had 10.

BASEBALL

Wheeling Park 4

WHEELING -- Chris Vargo was dominant on the hill as he struck out five, walked two and allowed just two hits in a complete game effort as Wheeling Park shutout John Marshall.

Luke Marsh paced the Patriots' offense with a single, a double and a RBI, while Michael Bittinger doubled and plated two in the win.

Grant Swift threw six innings for the Monarchs, striking out six and walking a pair.

Brooke 9, Oak Glen 5

NEW MANCHESTER -- Alex Jezierski collected two hits and two RBI to lead Brooke past Oak Glen.

Alex Garrett, Garrett Hornick and Blaise Buchmelter each delivered two hits and a RBI, apeice.

Steubenville 4, Edison 3

STEUBENVILLE -- Blake Connelly smacked two hits and knocked in a run but Edison fell to Steubenville.

Matt Parsons also collected two hits for the Wildcats.

Weir 7, Indian Creek 6

WEIRTON -- Tyler Kelly struck out 10 and walked two as Weir edged Indian Creek.

Mason Drobish had two doubles and two RBI in the win, while Corey Cottis paced the Redskins with two doubles.

Monroe Central 5

Shadyside 3

SHADYSIDE -- Jake Winland doubled, singled and drove in two runs as Monroe Central upended Shadyside.

Jake Vinskovich tossed a complete game to earn the win.

Mason VanNest paced the Tigers with three hits and three RBI.

Morgantown 3

Wheeling Park 2

WHEELING -- Makenna Kelly had a supplied a double and two RBI, but Wheeling Park fell to Morgantown.

Kyla Tharp, Katelyn Kozlowski and Faith Randolph all had doubles for the Patriots.

River 4, Magnolia 1

NEW MARTINSVILLE -- Katie Lively threw 10 strikeouts as River defeated Magnolia.

Katie Rufener and Emma Reed both supplied three singles for the Pilots.

For the Blue Eagles, Natalie Fletcher tallied a hit and scored the lone run.

Harrison Central 24

St. Clairsville 5

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Harrison Central scored 24 runs on 24 hits as it crushed St. Clairsville.

Britton Positano had one home run, two singles and four RBI for the Huskies while Sarah Touville had two singles, two doubles and three RBI.

Lexi Ferguson had four singles while Danyel Beadling crushed a homer, tallied two singles and had four RBI.

For the Red Devils, Abby Salisbury and Dekotah Namack each had a single and home run.

TENNIS

Brooke 6, Steubenville 1

STEUBENVILLE -- Brianna Ferguson (No. 1), Mykenzie Findling (No. 2) and Mia Camilletti (No. 3) all won their singles events as Brooke roared by Steubenville.

Morgantown 5, Linsly 2

WHEELING -- Rachel Ekanem won her No. 1 Singles match 8-4 but Linsly was downed by Morgantown.

Ekanem and teammate Kate Bondarchuk were also victorious in the No. 1 Doubles match 8-6.
