PREP ROUNDUP: Tyler Consolidated Wins 13th Consecutive Game in Baseball
SISTERSVILLE — Ty Walton and Carson Gorby combined to throw a perfect game while Mason Nichols threw a one-hitter as Tyler Consolidated swept Wirt County for its 13th straight victory.
The Silver Knights won the first game 13-0 and then secured a 12-1 victory in the nightcap.
Walton fanned seven in three innings pitched, while Gorby finished the job.
Jayden Helmick smashed three hits in the win and added a home run, a single and four RBI in the nightcap.
Greenbrier East 15 John Marshall 14
BERKELEY — John Marshall rallied from 9-0 down to take an 11-9 lead but ultimately fell to Greenbrier East.
Joel Wise belted his fourth home run in the last five games for JM and teammate Ethan Neely smacked his fifth homer in the last week. Wise added a single, a triple and three RBI, while Neely tact on two singles and three RBI in his impressive performance.
Jacob Coffield turned in a double, three singles and three RBI for the Monarchs and Dillon Wright had a single, double, triple and three RBI.
John Marshall 11 Spring Mills 1
BERKELEY — Dillon Wright recorded two hits and three RBI as the Monarchs won the second game of a doubleheader, this one against Spring Mills.
Ethan Neely had two hits and two RBI in the win.
Magnolia 15-10, Clay-Battelle 3-0
NEW MARTINSVILLE — Silas McKeever sent the 10-run mercy rule into action in Game 1 of a doubleheader as he belted a grand slam and Magnolia swept Clay-Battelle.
The Blue Eagles shut out the Cee Bees in Game 2 behind a strong start from Caden Cisar.
Hunter Kelley tallied two doubles, one single and two RBI as Linsly defeated Weir.
Alex Taylor also had three hits for the Cadets (two singles, one double).
Zac Taylor, Collin Paull and Ben Selmon all had two singles for Linsly.
Steubenville Catholic 0
TORONTO — Caleb Leasure threw a complete game with six strikeouts as Toronto survived an upset bid by Steubenville Catholic.
Evan Wolter and Brycen Miller each tallied a RBI single for Toronto.
SARAHSVILLE — Landen Lydick doubled and singled for Monroe Central, but was eliminated by Shenandoah.
Wheeling Central 14 John Marshall 4
WHEELING — Caleb Karnell had four goals and three assists to lead Wheeling Central to a victory over John Marshall.
Mason Smith and John Emmerth both had three goals and two assists for the Maroon Knights.
For the Monarchs, Matt Douglas had two goals.
