Nestor, McLeod Captain 33rd Annual All-Valley Boys’ Soccer Team

File Photos Wheeling Central’s Austin Nestor, left, and Wheeling Park’s Tresz McLeod, right, were named captains of the 33rd Annual All-Valley Boys’ Soccer Team due to their outstanding efforts and performances on the field during the 2021 high school soccer season.

Tresz McLeod

Wheeling Park

Get used to hearing and seeing this name. McLeod lit up the scoreboard in his first high school season as the freshman scored 19 goals and handed out 18 assists for the Patriots. His outstanding performance earned him first team all-state by the West Virginia High School Coaches Association and helped the forward secure a spot as a member of the All-OVAC second team. The sky is the limit as he looks to only get better.

Austin Nestor

Wheeling Central

Nestor finished his stellar career in style.

The senior was named first team all-state by the WVHSSCA after netting 34 goals and dishing out 17 assists for the Maroon Knights. Nestor also turned in 87 total points during the 2021 campaign, which earned him a spot in the OVAC All-Star Game, where he found the back of the net for West Virginia against some of the most talented stars in the area. Nestor was also the 2021 Region 1 Player of the Year.

Ashton Adams

The junior defender was a threat on both sides of the field as he netted 13 goals and delivered seven assists, himself. He was recognized with first team All-OVAC and first team all-region honors and all-state honorable mention accolades.

Jesse Brannan

St. Clairsville

Brannan turned in a stellar campaign for the powerful Red Devils by netting 19 goals and dishing out seven assists to help lead coach Jeff Roberts and St. Clairsville to the regional semifinals for the first time in the program’s storied history.

William Cruny

The junior midfielder is a three-year starter for coach Joe Pepe, who calls Cruny “the heart and soul of the midfield.” Cruny netted five goals, four assists and tallied 134 steals and takeaways to earn All-OVAC. He also has a 4.0 grade point average.

Michael Duff

Steubenville Catholic

The Crusaders relied on Duff all season. The junior keeper made 131 saves and had a 2.20 goals against average. He also earned two shutouts en route to first team All-OVAC and first team Eastern District accolades. He’ll be a player to watch next year.

Dannen Foraker

Wheeling Park

When an offense went up against Foraker and the Patriots, it knew it was going to be in for a battle. Foraker only allowed 13 goals all season and the senior goalie was named first team All-OVAC and second team all-state by the WVHSSCA.

Eddie Marks

A senior captain, Marks turned in 19 goals, 30 steals and takeaways and handed out nine assists to earn All-OVAC honors and a spot in the OVAC All-Star Game. The WVHSSCA also named him an all-state honorable mention for his performance.

Taylor McFarland

Wheeling Park

McFarland netted five goals and assisted on three but it was on defense where the senior shined the most. His efforts did not go unnoticed as he was named first team All-OVAC and first team all-state by the WVHSSCA in his final prep campaign.

Tyler McMahon

A 3-year starter, this junior defender led the team with 175 steals and takeaways, while also charting three saves and two assists. McMahon also collected first team All-OVAC and in the class room he carries an impressive 4.0 grade point average.

Jacob Morgan

Morgan not only brought home first team All-OVAC honors this year but he was first team all-region and second team all-state by the WVHSSCA after netting 14 goals and handing out six assists to help lift his teammates to the regional title.

Lucas Munoz

Munoz was a crucial piece of the puzzle for the Wildcats this season. He delivered 18 goals to lead the Edison offense and helped out his teammates with four assists along the way. His efforts earned him a spot in the OVAC All-Star Game against the best players in the area, which Ohio won in a snow-filled contest. He was also the third runner-up for all-state and was named all-district in Division III.

Cameron Neighoff

Another junior defender for the Cadets, Neighoff scored 12 goals and helped on two more on his way to earning first team All-OVAC and first team all-region honors. He was also named an honorable mention by the WVHSSCA for all-state.

Antonio Pittman

Pittman was first on the team in goals scored with 18 and ranked second with eight assists. He was an honorable mention for all-state by the WVHSSCA, first team all-region and first team All-OVAC after leading the Riders to the regional title.
