Linsly Girls Bounce Back to Win at Monroe Central

WOODSFIELD – The Linsly girls basketball team bounced back on Thursday with a 63-51 win on the road over Monroe Central.

Zaniah Zellous paced the Cadets with 16 points, while Brooklyn Edge tallied 12 points and Haylen Cook added 10 in the win.

Kalista Friday paced the Seminoles with 24 points and Abby Thompson added 10 points.

Hundred 62, Valley 36

HUNDRED – Roxie Huggins turned in 16 points and 12 rebounds as Hundred rolled past Valley.

In the win, Leah Dean amassed 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks, while Rachel Snedden tallied 10 points and eight assists and Addie Tuttle added 10 points, eight assists and eight steals.

Addy Booher paced the Jumberjills with 12 points.

Caldwell 60, Barnesville 45

BARNESVILLE — The Redskins completed the season sweep of the struggling Shamrocks on Thursday.

Katie Franklin led the Redskins with 23 points, while Jules Hood added 16.

Barnesville was led by freshmen Madelynn Tyson and Lilly Welch. Each had nine.

Toronto 47, Bridgeport 27

BRIDGEPORT — The Red Knights scored a repeat win to keep the Bulldogs winless on Thursday.

Ashton Thomas led the way for the winners with 16 points.

The Bulldogs were led by Kaylee Bain and Haley Aubrey. Each had nine.

Steubenville Catholic 52, Buckeye Local 19

STEUBENVILLE – The Crusaders continued their fine season with a 52-19 drubbing of the invading Panthers.

Katie Zatta led the Crusaders with 25 points.

Buckeye Local was led by Emily Valuska’s nine.


University 64, Linsly 60

MORGANTOWN – Caleb Murray bucketed 23 points and Raef Wykes added 13 points but Linsly fell to University.

Monroe Central 61, Magnolia 41

WOODSFIELD – Malachi Rose-Burton garnered 24 points to lead Monroe Central past visiting Magnolia.

Tucker Howell amassed 16 points and Collin Kroll added 10.

Trevor Williamson paced the Blue Eagles with 27 points.

Harrison Central 59, Buckeye Local 36

CADIZ — The Huskies continued their march to what they hope will be an OVAC Tournament berth with a big win over the rival Panthers.

Harrison Central was once again led by sophomore Hayden Cassidy. He went for 25 points, while junior Jace Madzia added 16.

The Panthers were led by Luke Darrah and Braydon Walker. Each had seven.

Martins Ferry 44, Union Local 42

MORRISTOWN – Alex Reese netted 18 points as Martins Ferry edged Union Local.

Jaizen Miles and Zach Flesch turned in nine points each for the Purple Riders.

Carter Blake paced the Jets with 14 points and D.J. Butts added 11.

Linsly Rolls

WHEELING – The Linsly girls defeated St. Johns (100-13), Edison (100-25) and Steubenville Catholic (100-29), while the Cadets’ boys team beat Edison (100-29) and Steubenville Catholic (100-27).

Liv Torner won the 200 IM (2:29.19) and the butterfly (1:07.23), while teammate Maddalena Tibaldo won the breaststroke (1:10.42) and the 200 (2:10.15) to spark the girls team.

On the boys’ side, Brock Brewer captured top honors in the 200 (2:16.77) and the 500 (6:03.54), while Asier Doval won the backstroke (59.23) and the 200 IM (2:11.85).
