Union Local Keeps OVAC Hopes Alive With Win

OLD WASHINGTON - Union Local kept its OVAC Tournament hopes alive when it went to Buckeye Trail and posed a 44-32 Tuesday evening.

The Jets, fresh off a triple OT win at Cambridge, received 13 points from junior Beezer Porter and 11 from classmate D.J. Butts.

Buckeye Trail was led by Franko Rome's game-high 15.

Monroe Central 56, Shenandoah 45

WOODSFIELD -- The surging Seminoles shook off a slow first half to pull away from the invading Zeps.

Monroe Central scored 38 of its points in the second half.

The Seminoles were led by senior standout Malachi Rose-Burton's 21 points. Tucker Howell and Jake Swisher added 14 and 13, respectively.

Shenandoah was led by Xander Fairchild's 17.

Steubenville 50, Indian Creek 42

STEUBENVILLE -- An 11-0 run in the second quarter helped the Big Red hang on and pick up a victory over visiting Indian Creek Tuesday.

Steubenville led 25-12 at halftime and weathered a couple of Indian Creek runs in the second half to preserve the victory.

Big Red's Phaeton Hill took game scoring honors with 20. Inky Jones contributed 14 and recorded a double-double by hauling down 11 rebounds. Frankie Vostatek contributed eight points and eight boards.

Mitch Williams ledIndian Creek with 11 points. Logan Schaeffer finished with 10 and a team-leading eight rebounds.

Shadyside 75, Bellaire 57

BELLAIRE -- Korey Beckett bucketed 31 points as Shadyside proved to be too much for Bellaire.

Elijah Brock turned in 20 points for the Tigers, while teammate Bryce Amos added 11.

The Big Reds were led by Ray Ray Pettigrew with 13 points and Owen Ward and Jaiden Kesterson with 12 points each.
