Park Boys Top John Marshall in Tennis
WHEELING — Wheeling Park No. 1 singles standout Braeden Keen earned an 8-0 victory as Wheeling Park downed rival John Marshall 6-0 Wednesday in tennis action.
Park’s No. 2 Wyatt Andrews earned an 8-3 triumph and Nick Trischler pulled out an 8-2 win in the No. 3 match.
BASEBALL
Tyler Consolidated 3, St. Marys 2
SISTERSVILLE — Jayden Helmick struck out 11 in a complete game victory as Tyler Consolidated edged St. Marys.
Offensively, Ty Walton tallied three hits and two RBI, while Zade Billings added a hit and a RBI for the Silver Knights.
Madonna 8, Cameron 2
WEIRTON — The Madonna baseball team got perhaps its biggest win of the young season, topping state-ranked Cameron at Edwin J. Bowman Field.
Senior pitcher Matt Amaismeier tossed a complete game, striking out nine and allowing two unearned runs on just two hits without issuing a walk.
He also had a good game at the plate, driving in a pair of runs to help his own cause.
Luke Amaismeier also plated a pair of runs, as did Kolton Grishkevich.
Monroe Central 10, Magnolia 4
WOODSFIELD — Michael Bunning turned in two hits and a RBI as Monroe Central upended Magnolia.
Drake Kocher amassed two hits and a RBI, while Andrew Heil collected two hits for the Blue Eagles.
Edison 5, Indian Creek 1
RICHMOND — Eli Wilson and Isaac Zastudil each turned in a single and two RBI as Edison downed Indian Creek.
SOFTBALL
Indian Creek 4, Edison 1
RICHMOND — Carley Jo Penner tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts as Indian Creek edged Edison.
McKenna Scott amassed a double and two singles for the Redskins.
Alayna Meadows paced Edison with six Ks.
Harrison Central 18, Beaver Local 5
CADIZ — The Huskies improved to 6-2 as they collected 10 hits in routing the visiting Beavers.
Sarah Touville doubled and tripled to produce a trio of runs for Harrison Central. Winning pitcher Tristen Kovarik singled in two runs and Isabella Yeager had a pair of one-base raps. Maddy Butler, Jenna Young, Lizzie Clelland, Olivia Tonkovich and Alaina Williams all singled in runs.
Kovarik struck out eight, walked three and scattered seven hits.
River 18, Paden City 1
SARDIS — River struck early and often en route to a five-inning win over invading Paden City.
The Pilots, who pounded out 16 hits, received two doubles and two RBI from Rylee Knight. Paige Barkes accounted for three singles and a RBI. Tessa Primm and Reese Hobbs each had two singles and a RBI. Josie Reed had a single and three RBI.
Emily Reed was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts and just a walk in four innings of work.

LACROSSE
Wheeling Central 12, John Marshall 4
GLEN DALE – Braxton Anderson netted six goals and Wheeling Central upended John Marshall.
Ethan Taylor recorded a hat trick and John Emmerth, Matthew Maroney and Parker Watkins each added a goal.
Maroney turned in three assists, while Brady Kerr delivered two and Anderson, Cole O’Neil and Nate Woods each tallied one.
Deante Suggs made eight saves for the Maroon Knights and Haji Marin garnered 12 winning face-offs.
