Tyler’s Walton Fires 4th Career No-Hitter
SISTERSVILLE — Tyler starter Ty Walton was a force on the mound Thursday, tossing the fourth no-hitter of his career as the Silver Knights won 10-0 over visiting Ravenswood.
Walton struck out a baker’s dozen on the mound while only walking four in the six-inning victory. He also collected an RBI single at the plate.
Jayden Helmik showed him support with a double and two RBI while Alec Chaplin hit two doubles and droe in two runs. Catcher Zade Billings had two hits, including a double, while also driving in a run.
Weston Henderson had two hits and an RBI, Hayden Brown drove in a run and Owen Westbrook had an RBI single to round out the offense.
Tyler is 13-2 on the season.
Bridgeport 12, Paden City 2
BRIDGEPORT, OH — The Bulldogs won for the second straight day as Gary Widmor went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs. Cirian Flanagan plated four runs with two base hits and winning pitcher Sean White had three hits and scored a like number of times.
Kayden Meyrs had three hits including a double for the Wildcats while Brandon Rone drove in a run.
Cambridge 7, St. Clairsville 4
CAMBRIDGE – The Bobcats struck for three runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the fifth to post a victory over the suddenly struggling Red Devils.
Rylie Rogers paced the Bobcats with two singles, two doubles and two RBI.
St. Clairsville (4-3) was led by sophomore Braylon Blomquist, who had two singles and a RBI. Classmate Mason Myers had a double.
Brooke 13, Martins Ferry 12
WELLSBURG – The Purple Riders saw their seven-game winning streak snapped despite owning a 10-0 lead after three-and-a-half innings.
The Bruins took advantage of seven Purple Rider errors en route to the rally.
Colin Snedeker had two singles and four RBI for the Riders, while Connor Probst had a double and two RBI. Colby Shriver had three singles and a RBI.
River 12, Buckeye Local 0
CONNORVILLE – The invading Pilots struck early and often en route to a six-inning win over the Panthers, who were limited to three hits.
Max Castro spun a gem, fanning six and walking one. He also had two singles and a RBI. Finn Bowers had three singles and a RBI. Colton Cisar had a RBI double, while Peyton Blue had a double, single and a RBI. Brody Lollathin had a single and two RBI.
Buckeye Local had two singles to pace Buckeye.
Barnesville 5, Shenandoah 4
BARNESVILLE – The Shamrocks pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a victory over the Zeps.
Gavin Carpenter and Colton Hines sparked the Barnesville offense with a home run. Jeremy Hunkler had a double.
Toronto 7, Oak Glen 4
TORONTO — Toronto got back on track Thursday after a couple of tough losses by knocking off Oak Glen, 7-4, at the Knights Baseball Complex.
Zane and Zeb Kinsey each had two RBIs for the Red Knights, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and never looked back, as did Russ Dickinson.
Dom Bouscher had a pair of doubles, while Evan Wolter had a pair of sinfles and Nate Brownfield had a double, single and an RBI.
Wolter was the winning pitcher for coach Brian Perkins club, which is now 7-5, tossing the first 5 1/3 with two strikeouts.
Hunter Rhodes had a solo homer for the Golden Bears, while Danny Bridges had a single and an RBI and Preston Cole doubled.
Chase Patterson struck out two in six innings in the loss.
Indian Creek 8, Edison 0
MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek baseball team provided its coach a special win on Thursday, blanking rival Edison 8-0 at home for win No. 300 of Mike Cottis’ tenure guiding the Redskins.
“I’ve been blessed with many great players over the years and it’s all because of them,” Cottis said of the milestone. “I’m thrilled this bunch of boys got to be a part of it because they’re a great group and I’m excited for them.
“My brother Randy has been there every year and my other assistants have also been with me for a long time. I am just very fortunate to have had great players and great assistants.”
Ty Householder turned in a gem on the mound to get his coach the milestone, tossing a complete game three-hitter while striking out 14 batters and walking just one.
He also tripled and drove in a run for Creek, which is now 4-4 on the season.
Landon Pownall doubled, singled and had three RBIs, while Caleb Bodo drove in a pair and Cam Franke also plated a run.
Riley Watson had a pair of hits for the Wildcats.

Wheeling Park 2
WHEELING — The Big Red softball team kept its unbeaten start going with a 5-2 win on the road at Wheeling Park on Thursday.
Steubenville got another complete game effort from Jules King in the circle, as she fanned 12 and walked just one for the win, while having a pair of base hits at the plate for Gus DiMarzio’s club.
Tori Mitchell and Sena Smith each had a double, Smith driving in a pair of runs, while Adrianna Brown also had a multi-hit game and also plated two for the Crimson and Black.
After falling behind 1-0, Big Red did all of its scoring in the top of the third, which was more than enough offense for King to make stand the rest of the way.
Brooke 13, Magnolia 4
NEW MARTINSVILLE — the Brooke softball team opened up an eight-run lead in the first two innings and did not look back, topping host Magnolia on the road, 13-4, on Thursday.
Kameryn Eckles had two hits and an RBI for the Bruins, now 6-5, in the win, while Emilee Knorr plated three runs with a pair of base hits.
Lex Foresha had a double and a homer to plate three runs, while Landry Bone, who struck out four for the win in the circle, had a homer, a single and three RBIs.
Angelina Lippoli had two doubles, a single and an RBI, while Hailey Moore and Maddy Brown also plated runs.
Brooke hosts St. Clairsville at noon on Saturday.
Edison 4, Indian Creek 1
MINGO JUNCTION — The Edison softball team bounced back from an extra innings loss the night before by topping rival Indian Creek, 4-1, Thursday evening.
The Wildcats got 10 strikeouts in a complete game effort in the circle from Katie Fluharty, who also drove in a run at the plate.
Becka Evans, Alayna Meadows and Morgan Martin each drove in runs for Edison.
Creek, on the other hand, got its lone RBI from Giana Boley, while Trinity Taylor struck out six in 6 2/3 innings of work in the circle for the Redskins, who dropped their second-straight after a 7-0 start.
Union Local 7, Beaver Local 6
MORRISTOWN – The Jets rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to slip past the visiting Beavers.
Marissa McGary’s sacrifice fly to right with one out knocked in Emily Kellaway with the game-winner. Kiera Gregor had tied the game earlier in the inning with a single.
McGary also tripled in a run while Hannah Merritt singled, tripled and drove in a run. Abi Marinelli had a run-producing single and Alleigh Cheatham doubled.
Union Local (4-3) entertains East Liverpool today in a 1 p.m. doubleheader before visiting Bridgeport on Saturday for a noon double-dip.
Shenandoah 10, Monroe Central 7, 8 innings
WOODSFIELD – The Zeps scored four in the top of the eighth and then hung on for a repeat victory against the Seminoles.
Mya Leach was impressive in the circle. Working in relief, she picked up the win with 10 strikeouts and just one walk. She also had a triple, three singles and four RBI. Laney Hitchens had a double and four RBI.
Monroe Central was led by Shyann Baker’s three singles. Madison Stimpert had a double, while Makenna Matz had three hits and two RBI.
Frontier 7-17, Beallsville 4-7
NEW MATAMORAS – The host Cougars swept a twinbill from the Blue Devils.
Brooke Wells had three singles and a double that drove in one run. Kaylee Hagan had two singles, a double and three runs batted in, while Kinley Hughes drove in two runs with a single and two-run homer. Jaycee Huffman, Hallie Bommer and Tayla Decker all had two singles.
Cambridge 18-19, St. Clairsville 17-2
CAMBRIDGE – The host Bobcats won their fourth and fifth games of the week by sweeping the Red Devils in a doubleheader.
In the opener, pitcher Abby Mann had a huge game at the plate with three doubles, a triple and four RBI. Presley Dodd had a double, two singles and three RBI.
St. Clairsville received a home run double, two singles and four RBI from Hannah Thoburn. Abby Salisbury had two singles and four RBI. Emily Dubinski added a home run, single and four RBI.
In the second game, the Bobcats, who served as the visiting team, scored 12 in the top of the fifth to blow open the game.
Mann had a double and three RBI, while Conrad had three singles and five RBI. Dodd had a double, single and three RBI. Kenworthy had a triple, two singles and four RBI.
St. C. received a double from Salisbury. Rachel Finical and Noel Habig each drove in a run.
TENNIS
Wheeling Park 6, St. Clairsville 1
Wheeling Park 5, Brooke 2
WELLSBURG — The Wheeling Park boys picked up a couple of wins defeating both St. Clairsville and Brooke in a doubleheader.
Against the Red Devils, Nick Trischler and Evan Stingle won in singles 8-0 and 8-2, respectively, while Braeden Keen won by forfeit. Brandon Krolovic won 7-6 for St. Clairsville. Park took all three doubles matches, winning 8-1, 8-0 and 8-0.
Against the Bruins, Trischler and Stingle won again, this time 8-4 and 8-1, respectively. Wyatt Andrews won 8-3 and Brooke’s Nick Pullock bagged an 8-3 victory. In doubles, Keen and Trischler won 8-4 and Stingle and Charlie Desaia won 8-1. Brooke’s duo of Tyler VanCamp and Kendrick Fish won 8-6.
