OG’s McKinley Moves on at State

KANAWHA CITY — Oak Glen’s Kittawana McKinley advanced to the second round of the WVSSAC High School Tennis Tournament on Thursday with an 8-0 win over Lincoln’s Raelyn Vance. She’ll be back in action today.

Wheeling Central’s Danielle Agcaoili deliverd a first-round win by an 8-6 count over Moorefield’s Jadelyn Hinger in the No. 1 Singles event but fell in Round Two by an 8-1 count.

Wheeling Park’s trio of girls — Taylor Andrews, Taylor Broadwater and Towne Moores — all fell in the first round of singles action, as did Park’s No. 1 Singles standout Braeden Keen in the boys’ bracket.

Brooke’s Nick Pollock and Weir’s Justin Velegol were also eliminated from singles play on Day 1.

WILLIAMSTOWN — A seven-run first by Williamstown doomed Tyler Consolidated in its sectional winner’s bracket contest.

Tyler will look to stave off elimination today at home against the winner of Ritchie County and St. Marys.

Alec Chaplin paced the Silver Knights with a hit and two RBI.
