Shadyside’s Grace Green Signs With Bloomsburg

SHADYSIDE — When making her decision on what college to attend, Grace Green wanted to find a place where she felt at home and also where she could expand her golf game.

The Shadyside High School senior found both at Bloomsburg University, which is located upwards of five hours from the Ohio Valley in Bloomsburg, Pa.

“I felt like Bloomsburg gave me a great opportunity to take my golf game to the next level,” Green said. “I couldn’t pass up the offer.”

Green — a four-year letter winner for the Tigers — is joining a Bloomsburg squad, which will be playing its second season in school history in the fall.

“I see myself (becoming) a vital asset to the team and helping the program to continue to grow,” Green said.

Green was one of the top female players in the area during her prep career. She earned a myriad of accolades, including All-Times Leader, All-Valley, All-OVGL, All-MOVL and First Team All Eastern District. She was a medalist in the OVGL during each of her four seasons.

She also won the Honeywell Junior Tour championship prior to her senior season.

Accomplishments aside, Green is happy with the overall improvements she made during her prep career.

“I am very pleased with how far my game as come since my freshman year,” Green said. “All of the memories I made on and off the course with my team is something I will surely miss.”

As she begins to shift her focus to preparing for what lies ahead in the NCAA Division II ranks with the Huskies, who play in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, Green pointed out her short game and strength as areas where she needs to continue to improve.

Along with her golfing exploits, Green is a standout in the classroom as well.

She’s been listed on either the principal’s list or honor roll in each grading period of her high school career. She’s also active in Drug Free Club, Prom Committee, Chemistry Club and Youth Leadership Club.

Grace. who is the daughter of Greg and Kimberli Green, plans to major in nursing.
