Club Gold Volleyball’s 18 Gold squad enjoyed a highly successful season. The roster includes numerous area standouts, who helped the team to qualify into the Gold Bracket of the OVR Championships and finish third overall. To qualify for this bracket, the team had to maintain a top position in the overall rankings and ended its season ranked 12th in the OVR and ninth in the overall rankings out of more than 70 teams. This year’s team is comprised of athletes from Barnesville, Union Local, Shadyside, Wheeling Park and St. Clairsville. Many are competing up at multiple higher age groups and are looking to continue their careers at the next level. Senior lbero Caylin Angel will be playing at Washington & Jefferson and senior Alexis Thoburn will be attending Wheeling University.

For the season, 18 Gold placed second at Eastern Ohio Sports Complex and the Highland’s Sports Complex falling short to a nationally qualified Kid’s America team. It also finished 30th in the American Division at the North East Qualifier in Philidelphia; 45th in the Liberty Division at the Mideast Qualifier in Indianapolis; first at Slippery Rock’s “Rock the Arc” Tournament; third at the Ohio Valley Regional Championships, battling the eventual champion Team Atlantis VBC in the semi-final match.
