Amaismeier, Nemeth, Shriver Captain 54th Annual All-Valley Baseball Team

Infielder, Captain
Amaismeier amazed this year for the Blue Dons and was a big reason why they were one win away from reaching the state tournament. Amaismeier garnered a batting average of .505 with 51 hits, 40 RBI, 13 doubles and four home runs. He could run and pitch, too, as he tallied 15 stolen bases on the basepaths and a 2.55 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 58 innings on the mound. Amaismeier also delivered four complete games for coach Jeff Baire’s squad.

Treston Nemeth
Treston Nemeth, Harrison Central
Catcher, Captain
Nemeth finds himself as a captain of the All-Valley team for the second consecutive year and deservedly so after the stellar season he delivered. The Huskies’ catcher was always coming up big as he batted .538 with a .938 slugging percentage, five home runs, 11 doubles, three triples, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored, while swiping 15 bases in the process. Behind the dish he was just as valuable as he called every pitch for Harrison Central’s pitching staff.

Colby Shriver
Colby Shriver, Martins Ferry
Pitcher, Captain
There was a 50/50 chance a team would even score a run when facing Shriver this season. The Purple Riders’ ace finished his senior campaign with five shutouts in 10 starts and generated a record of 9-1 over 67 innings. He also struck out 83 hitters and turned in a remarkable 0.73 ERA to capture First Team All-Ohio honors, along with All-Eastern District, All-Buckeye 8 and All-OVAC accolades on his way to playing in the OVAC and Eastern District All-Star Games.
Bryce Amos, Shadyside
Pitcher
No-no, that wasn’t Nolan Ryan pitching for Shadyside this year but it sure felt like it. Amos tallied three no-hitters this year and only allowed four earned runs, while accumulating a 4-1 record with a 0.92 ERA and 55 strikeouts. He also played in the OVAC All-Star Game.
Tre Rex
Harrison Central, Pitcher
Rex struck out 19 batters, while throwing a no-hitter (his second no-hitter of the season) in the Huskies’ district semifinal game against Coshocton. The lefty finished his junior year with a 7-1 record, 90 strikeouts, an ERA of 0.97 and held opposing hitters to a .122 average.
Ty Walton
Tyler Consolidated
Pitcher
Walton struck out 107 batters in just 53 innings, while owning an ERA of 1.04 and a record of 8-2. Walton only allowed 16 hits and held the opposition to a batting average of .088. He also hit .365 with a home run and 18 RBI to earn first team all-state.
Luke Marsh
Wheeling Park
Catcher
Marsh played flawlessly behind the dish with a fielding percentage of 1.000 this year (no errors). He also caught 26% of all base-stealers. At the plate, he owned a batting average of .342 with 27 hits, 26 RBI and nine doubles.
Michael Bittinger Wheeling Park
Infielder
Mr. Reliable. Bittinger batted .435 with 37 hits, 19 RBI, seven doubles, one home run and one triple during his senior campaign. He was also strong on the mound where he owned a 2.65 ERA for coach Steve Myers and the Patriots.
Braylen Blomquist
St. Clairsville
Infielder
In just his sophomore year, Blomquist turned in a batting average of .427 with 32 hits, 15 RBI, 25 runs scored, four doubles and only four strikeouts all season long. Defensively, Blomquist was a wizard with a .936 fielding percentage in 94 chances.
Collin Kroll
Monroe Central
Infielder
Kroll hit at a .452 clip with 33 hits, 21 RBI, 17 runs scored, 12 doubles, one home run and an OPS of 1.016. He added three more hits in the OVAC All-Star Game. He secured Second Team All-Ohio, All-Eastern District, All-OVAC and All-MOVL accolades.
Colin Snedeker
Martins Ferry
Infielder
Baseball isn’t as easy as Snedeker made it look this season. The senior hit at a .455 clip with three home runs, 25 RBI and 26 runs scored. He also garnered All-OVAC, All-Buckeye 8 and All-Eastern District honors and played in the OVAC All-Star Game.
Mason VanNest Shadyside
Infielder
The accolades continue to pour in for VanNest as he was named the OVAC 2A Baseball Player of the Year. He hit .439 with 29 hits, while stealing 24 bases. VanNest also delivered 25 runs, four doubles, three triples and a .938 fielding percentage.
Jayden Helmick
Tyler Consolidated
Outfield
Helmick’s speed and range in the outfield are as impressive as his ability to hit. This year, Helmick hit at a .413 clip with 31 hits, 26 runs, 16 RBI, four doubles, four triples and two home runs. He added 33 stolen bases for coach Rob Jones.
Ian McBane, Edison
Outfield
En route to earning All-OVAC, All-Eastern District, All-Buckeye 8 and an all-state honorable mention, McBane racked up 32 hits for a .471 batting average. The outfielder also supplied 17 RBI, 26 runs, three doubles, three triples and an on-base percentage of .634.
Luke Amaismeier Madonna
Utility
Madonna put on a hitting clinic this season. Luke Amaismeier helped instruct that clinic with a .424 average, 39 hits, 34 runs and four doubles. He was also patient at the plate and quick on the basepaths as he tallied 20 walks and 16 stolen bases.
Coy Angel, Cameron
Utility
Angel was a solid hitter and the ace of the staff. He earned second team all-state honors and had a perfect 6-0 record on the mound. He fanned 81 hitters and held a 2.84 ERA. He added a .362 average, 25 hits, seven doubles, two triples, three home runs and 22 RBI.
Cooper Blackburn Steubenville
Utility
A key reason for Big Red’s run to the regional final, Blackburn was a winning machine on the mound as he finished the season 10-2. He held a 3.10 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 65 innings. He hit .294 with 25 hits, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored and one home run.
Peyton Blue, River
Utility
In just his freshman season, Blue batted an eye-popping .509 with an OPS of 1.497 in his first varsity season. He also supplied 27 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, one home run, 35 RBI, 21 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. He went 3-1 with a 1.59 ERA on the mound, as well.
Dom Bouscher, Toronto
Utility
Toronto has become a baseball powerhouse over the years because of players like Bouscher. He finished the season with a .405 batting average, 25 RBI, 14 doubles and three triples. He even distracted pitchers with his speed and proved it with 21 stolen bases.
Ben Foster
Wheeling Central
Utility
Whether it was at the dish or pitching, Foster was one of the best in the valley. He could hardly be touched when he toed the rubber and his 0.96 ERA and four victories proved it. At the plate, the senior raked at a .470 clip and drove in 18 runs.
Adam Och
Linsly
Utility
Och was swinging the lumber this year as he turned in a batting average of .406 with 27 RBI, eight doubles and a pair of triples. He was also a solid choice on the mound with a 5-1 record, a 1.97 ERA, 31 strikeouts and two saves for the Cadets.
