File Photos The 18th All-Valley Softball Team is captained by, from left, Steubenville’s Julianna King, Oak Glen’s Maddie McKay and John Marshall’s Kadence Pettit. All three impacted their teams both from inside the circle and at the plate. McKay and Pettit are repeating as captains of the All-Valley team from last year.
Julianna King
P, Steubenville
Captain

King recovered from a thumb injury a year ago to put forth one of the best all-around seasons in the valley.
The Big Red junior batted .468 at the plate and was a menace on the basepaths, racking up 26 steals and scoring 29 runs. Her work at the dish would garner All-Valley consideration on its own, but what she did in the circle is what sets her apart.
King amassed a 14-3 pitching record while carrying a paltry 1.24 ERA and striking out the opposition 202 times.
Maddie McKay
P, Oak Glen
Captain

McKay repeats as a captain of the All-Valley team, following up a standout 2021 season with an arguably better performance this year.
The Toledo commit led the Golden Bears back to the West Virginia state tournament with a perfect 17-0 record in the circle and a minescule 1.19 ERA.
