The Patrick A. Clutter Memorial Scholarship has announced the winners of the 2022 annual Pat Clutter Memorial Scholarship.

This year Jenna Maguire and Lauren Taylor both received scholarship monies totaling $6,000 to use towards their education in the field of Communications.

“We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished with this memorial scholarship fund and even happier that Jenna and Lauren were chosen as the 2022 recipients” David Flatley, long time chair of the Scholarship & Memorial fund, said. “Pat touched many lives along the way and launched many careers and we just hope to continue along that road in some fashion as a tribute to Mr. Clutter’s memory.”.

This year’s announcement is extremely fulfilling as we commemorate our 25th Anniversary with our scholarship and memorial golf scramble.

The area’s premier golf scramble – The Pat Clutter Scholarship Memorial Golf Scramble – will take place Friday, August 5, at the Crispin Center in Oglebay Park.

The Patrick A. Clutter Scholarship was established to assist students at Wheeling Park High School with financial resources to attend colleges, universities, or vocational centers of their choice.

Pat Clutter, long-time educator at Wheeling Park High School, founded and established the Radio, and Television curriculum, as it is known today.

The purpose of this scholarship is to make it possible for students to continue their education in the fields of Radio or Television. It is also the purpose of this scholarship to encourage young men and women to become better citizens by giving them the opportunity to further their education.

The Fund is invested and managed by Wesbanco Bank, Wheeling as Trustee under the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.

The Scholarship Committee is composed of five individuals who serve without compensation and are charged with the responsibility of selecting deserving students to receive scholarship, the amount of each scholarship award, and the enforcement of all rules, regulations, and requirements.

ELIGIBILITY: Any young man or woman who is a legal resident of Ohio County, West Virginia, who has attended Wheeling Park High School and who has completed Radio and Television classes for two consecutive years and who is a member of the current graduating class of Wheeling Park High School.

SELECTION: Scholastic achievement will be given strong consideration. The Scholarship Committee will consider school performance, need, and academic record and demonstrate aptitude of motivation to succeed in the pursuit of a qualified career path. All current high school applicants must have at least a 3.0 G.P.A.

“Our number one fund raiser for the Clutter Scholarship is the annual charity golf scramble,” Flatley indicated.

“Folks interested in donating or playing in the golf scramble, should logon to ClutterScholarship.org for additional information and the appropriate forms,” Flatley concluded.

Since the inception of the scholarship, we have given away over $100,000 in the form of scholarship monies and essential purchases for the radio and television program at Wheeling Park High School. The scholarship fund was designed so that we can continue to reward students each year that meet eligibility requirements and who choose to continue their education, in the field of communications, at the next level. The scholarship fund was also designed to grant monies to the current radio and television program based on requested and needed upgrades as indicated by the department instructors.

Starting at $2.99/week.
