John Marshall Sweeps Tri

MOUNDSVILLE — Ethan Cook continued a strong start to the season and led the Monarchs to a win on their home course over East Liverpool and Harrison Central.

Cook shot 1-under 69 at the Moundsville Country Club to claim medalist honors. His round included four birdies as JM won with a team score of 323 over EL (393) and HC (395).

Colton Sprowls and Landon Ruckman tied at 84 for John Marshall and Raymond Steed carded a 86.

Nate Kelly of Eastliverpool was the only other golfer to crack 80, shooting 76. He was supported by Preston Dawson (98), Aaron Diermyer (100) and Caden Hesley (119).

Nash Robert led Harrison with a 93, followed by Kaily Benal (94), Heath Clay (101) and Ocean Rogers (107).

Linsly def. Wheeling Central

WHEELING — The Cadets topped Wheeling Central at the Jones Course at Speidel Golf Club 331-347.

Matteo Pontecorvo led Linsly with a 79, followed by Matteo Guzzo’s 82. Adam Gill shot 84 and Jaime Romeral had an 86 to round out the scorers.

Central’s Justin Doerr shot 75 to claim medalist honors. He was supported by Ryan Constanzo (84), Luke Tiu (93) and Landon Prager (95).

UL Tops Tourney

POWHATAN — Union Local fired a solid score of 158 to edge Barnesville by a shot and claim a five-team event at Clair Mar Golf Course.

Other teams taking part were Shadyside (180), Magnolia (188) and River (193).

Barnesville’s Hayden Treadway shot an impressive 1-under, 34 to take medalist honors by a shot over Union Local senior Beezer Porter and Shadyside’s Luke Bell, who shot even.
