Tyler Sweeps Quad, Magnolia Wins 2

SISTERSVILLE — Homestanding Tyler Consolidated swept a quad match against Clay-Battelle (25-12, 25-11), Gilmer County (25-15, 25-9) and Magnolia (25-21, 25-20) Thursday.

Caitlyn Northcraft stood out for the Knights (3-1) with 55 assists and 15 points. Braeden Wall stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, five aces, 21 kills, five digs and four blocks.

Caitlyn Hayes supplied five aces, 13 points and 11 kills and Tanley McEldowney had 25 digs.

Tyler is back in action next Tuesday against Wahama.

Magnolia won its other two matches on the night over Gilmer County (25-12, 25-21) and Clay-Battelle (25-19, 25-15).

The Blue Eagles were led by Jenna Blain’s 12 kills, 18 digs, 12 points and five aces. Sydney Knight supplied 48 assists and seven points. Julia Lilze had 37 digs and nine points while Maddi Yoho put up 36 digs and five points.

Jenna Anderson supplied seven aces, 21 digs and 13 points while Delanie Postteweit had 11 kills and two blocks.

Parkersburg South

GLEN DALE — The Monarchs opened the season on the right foot with a sweep of visiting Parkersburg South by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-13.

Sybil Willis led the defense with 16 digs while Michaela Kobasko had 10 kills and two blocks. Kayli Derrow supplied eight kills and five blocks and freshman Nia Miller had 15 service points.

Union Local sweeps Bellaire

BELLAIRE — Union Local continued its strong early-season play with a sweep of previously undefeated Bellaire by scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-8.

The Jets were led by senior standout Torre Kildow, who had 15 kills and six digs. Alli Briggs and Olivia Whortman each had five kills. Briggs also posted five aces. Julie Broussard had 13 digs, while Kelly Gress had 19 assists and eight digs. Freshman Laken Vinskovich had four kills.

The Big Reds were led by Gianna Schmidt’s seven kills, nine digs, two blocks and two aces. Zara Harveth added seven digs, two kills, two aces and a block. Alexis Morgan posted seven digs. Gracelyn Maupin added eight assists and two aces.

Barnesville sweeps Buckeye Local

CONNORVILLE — Barnesville made quick and easy work of homestanding Buckeye Local Thursday evening prevailing by scores of 25-23, 25-9 and 25-9.

The Shamrocks were led by Ava McFarland’s 30 assists, six digs and 14 points. Halle Markovich had 20 kills, two blocks and nine points. Ellie Thompson added 12 kills, four digs and four points.

Jalyn Skinner posted 27 digs and 15 points, while Blayne Carpenter added 10 digs.

The Panthers (0-3) were led by Shayleigh Hornyak’s four blocks and three kills. Pam Kandrach had six points and 12 digs. Brynn McKeever added five digs and three kills, while Avah Williams posted seven digs and three kills. Sam Ankrom had seven digs.

St. Clairsville downs Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY — The Red Devils picked up their first win in four outings Thursday evening by scores of 25-19, 25-27, 25-17 and 25-14

The Red Devils were led by Brooke Biancarelli’s nine kills and five digs. Rachel Finnical had 23 assists, five digs and five aces. Katlyn Gray posted 11 kills and three blocks. Makenna Moran added four digs, six blocks and 10 kills.

The Purple Riders were paced by Sydney Koller’s 14 kills, 19 digs, 13 points and three aces. Lindsey Best had 12 points, seven kills and eight digs. Hannah Meeker posted 29 assists, 12 points and two blocks. McKenzie Carte donated seven kills and seven blocks.

Bridgeport tops St. John Academy

BELLAIRE – The Bulldogs (1-2) defeated the Irish 25-12, 25-12 and 25-6 for their first win of the campaign.

Markiee McCormick led Bridgeport with 16 points, of which five were aces, and 14 assists. Campbell Kropka added 15 points (2 aces) and 10 assists, while Kaylee Bain contributed eight points and four kills. Josalyn Canter added three points and nine kills, and Rylee McElroy had four points (3 aces).

River falls to Frontier

HANNIBAL — Frontier made quick work of the Pilots winning by scores of 25-9, 25-8 and 25-23 on Thursday.

The Pilots were led by Reese Hobbs’ three kills. Tessa Primm added five assists. Sophie Wagner had three digs and three aces.

Wheeling Central tops St. Clairsville

WHEELING — The Maroon Knights edged out the Red Devils by seven shots on Thursday in an 18-hole match at Oglebay Park’s Jones Course.

The Knights, who were led by match medalist Justin Doerr’s 71, posted a 330. St. Clairsville was led by runner-up medalist Brodi Foster’s 77.

Wheeling Park victorious over University

WHEELING — The Patriots beat out visiting University 316-354 Thursday at Oglebay Park’s Jones Course.

Park’s Campbell Koegler was the match medalist with a 4-over 75. He was followed by teammates Will Koegler (77) and Gavin Goodrich (79).

University was led by Daniel Grabo’s round of 80.
