Edison Girls Win Ohio Valley Athletics Golf Tournament

SARDIS — Edison’s girls golf team fired a score of 418 to edge St. Clairsville by 12 shots to win the annual Ohio Valley Athletics High Schools Girls Tournament.

Morgantown’s Grace Yan was the individual winner with a score of 6-over, 78. Joining Yan on the All-Tournament team were Barnesville’s Breanna Flood (81), St. Clairsville’s Olivia Baker (82), Fort Frye’s Layton Denay (85), South’s Olivia Foley (87) and Wheeling Central’s Maddie Potts (87).

CADIZ – The Huskies scored four times in each half in blanking the visiting Blue Dons on the artificial pitch at Wagner Field.

Lily Gibbons recorded a hat trick and Angi Ferri added a pair of net-finders. Lexi Smith and Collette Downs each added a goal and two assists, while Alina Williams had a goal and an assist.

Vanessa Dowdle charted 3 saves and Katherine Shearer 4.

Harrison Central has now scored 40 goals on the season so far.

The Huskies host East Liverpool Saturday at 1 p.m.

Harrison edges Buckeye

RAYLAND — Harrison Central finished with a 171 to edge host Buckeye Local by two shots at BecWood on Wednesday.

Huskies’ Nash Roberts was the match medalist with a round of 41.

St. Clairsville edges Edison

RICHMOND — Visiting St. Clairsville needed five lengthy sets to get the victory against the Wildcats on Wednesday by scores of 25-23, 22-25, 18-25, 25-23 and 15-12.

Rachel Finnical led the Devils with 39 assists, 16 digs, nine aces and three kills. Brooke Biancarelli had 11 kills, 13 digs and six aces. Ella Carpenter posted 11 kills, while Abby Salisbury had 22 digs, four kills and an ace.

Wheeling Central edges Bellaire

BELLAIRE — The Maroon Knights rallied from a set down to defeat the Big Reds in five by scores of 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 30-28 and 15-9.

Nicole Reasbeck notched 23 kills and a like number of digs while Kam Conners put up 16 kills and 17 digs.

Lainey Peters had 24 assists and Gabby Leadbitter was credited with 18 digs.

Bellaire was led by Zara Harveth’s 12 kills, 16 digs, two aces. Gianna Schmidt had six kills, 16 digs and seven aces. Gracelynn Maupin had 15 assists and four aces. Ava Marinacci had 10 assists and three aces, while Brooklyn Zonker posted seven kills, six digs and two aces. Sidney Rowson posted 10 digs and four kills. Lexi Morgan had 10 digs.

Buckeye Local sweeps River

HANNIBAL — The invading Pilots needed just three sets to finish off the Pilots by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-16.

Buckeye was led by Shayleigh Hornyak’s four blocks, three digs, seven kills and an ace. Pam Kandrach had five kills, four digs and two aces, while Madison Zeroski had four kills, two blocks and an ace. Jaelee Thompson had five kills, five digs and five points. Samantha Ankrom had seven digs. Abby Berze hadeight digs. Brynn McKeever added five kills, four digs and an ace. Morgan Richardon had five kills, eight digs and seven points.

Frontier sweeps Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT — The invading Cougars picked up a three-set win by scores of 25-9, 27-25 and 25-20.

The Bulldogs were led by Markiee McCormick’s two aces, four kills, seven assists and seven digs. Erica Marling had five points. Kaylee Bain had 18 digs and Vanessa Mullen had10 digs.

Caldwell sweeps Monroe

CALDWELL – The visiting Seminoles lost by scores of 25-10, 26-24 and 25-21 to the Redskins.

Kyra English recorded eight points and a like number of assists. Olivia Valkovic charted six assists and four points, while Abby Thompson had five kills, five blocks and a trio of points.

Beallsville tops St. Marys

BEALLSVILLE — The Blue Devils needed five sets, but picked up a 22-25, 25-23, 14-25, 27-25 and 15-9 victory on Tuesday.

Beallsville was led by Kaylee Hagan’s 16 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Emily Crooks had nine digs and four kills. Chloe McCulley notched 16 assists, three digs and three aces.
