Inaugural Middle School Girls Open Golf Tournament
WHEELING — In the continuing effort to promote girls golf in the Ohio Valley, the John Marshall Golf Team announces their inaugural Girls Middle School Open Golf Championship. This event is open to any girl in the Ohio Valley enrolled in grades 6-8. Girls do not have to be participating on a school team, just have an interest in golf and have some experience of playing on a regulation golf course.
The event will be held on Friday, September 30 at the cozy Wheeling Park Golf Course with a players and parents meeting set for 2:30 pm and a pro-start will follow.
This event is being held in compliance with WVSSAC recommendations for promoting girls golf by having individual events for girls to participate.
In this seven-hole golf event the girls will play from modified red tees at lengths appropriate for their skill and grade level.
Awards will be presented to the top 5 participants, but the primary purpose of the event is for girls to be get together and play the lifelong game of golf in a friendly and casual environment and have fun.
A snack will be provided after the event courtesy of DiCarlo’s pizza.
