Monarchs Top Big Red

MOUNDSVILLE — The Monarchs won a nine-hole match against Steubenville Monday, 157-179, at the Moundsville Country Club.

JM’s Ethan Cook took medalist honors shooting 1-under 35. Teammate Colton Sprowls finished second with a 37 while Raymond Steed and Steubenville’s Nick Nurczyk both shot 42.

Shadyside sweeps triangular

POWHATAN — The Tigers picked up a pair of wins by shooting a solid 167, which was three shots better than Frontier and 10 better than host River.

Shadyside’s Luke Bell fired a round of 2-under, 33 to take home the medalist honor.

Shadyside downs River

HANNIBAL — Shadyside picked up its second win of the season and completed the season sweep of River in the process by scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-8.

Tigers senior Gentry Brown put forth 12 kills, eight digs and two aces, while Made Violet and Baleigh Harman each had six kills. Harman added 16 assists. Macy Hendershot had five kills and six aces, while Ali Weatherson posted seven assists.

Bellaire edges Cambridge

BELLAIRE — The Big Reds needed five sets, but avenged an earlier loss with a victory by scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-19, 21-25 and 15-10.

Bellaire was led by Gianna Schmidt’s nine aces, five kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Ava Marinacci had 18 assists, 10 aces and eight digs. Brooklyn Zonker had seven kills and four aces. Deena Call had seven kills and three blocks. Zara Harveth posted six kills, four blocks and two aces. Gracelyn Maupin added 18 assists, four aces and seven digs. Sidney Rowson had 12 digs and five kills. Lexi Morgan posted 12 digs.

East Liverpool sweeps Harrison

CADIZ — The Huskies dropped a three-set decision to still undefeated East Liverpool on Monday by scores of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-11.

The Huskies were led by Danica Rensi’s four kills. Olivia Tonkovich donated 11 assists, while Maddy Butler posted 20 digs.

Shenandoah sweeps Barnesville

BARNESVILLE — The Zeps won a showdown match in impressive fashion, sweeping the Shamrocks 25-22, 25-13 and 25-9.

The Shamrocks were led by Ava McFarland’s 18 assists and eight digs. Halle Markovich had eight kills, six digs and two blocks, while Kynlie Cline had 17 digs. Blayne Carpenter posted six points and five digs. Ellie Thompson had six kills and three digs.

The Zeps were led by junior Mya Leach, who had 13 kills, 14 assists and 10 kills. Heather Merry had 18 assists.

Beallsville sweeps Paden City

PADEN CITY — Beallsville needed three sets to finish off a win over Paden City by scores of 25-18, 25-8 and 25-21.

The Blue Devils were led by Kinley Hughes’ 10 assists, seven aces, five digs and three kills. Leah Trigg had nine digs and three aces. Kaylee Hagan posted eight kills and seven digs. Chloe McCulley had eight assists and four digs. Brooke Wells posted four kills, three digs and three aces.

Monroe rolls past Frontier

WOODSFIELD — The Seminoles posted a victory by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-20.

Kynzi Bishop had seven kills, while Abby Thompson had five five kills and two blocks. Olivia Valkovic had 10 assists, while Kyra English had seven assists and three aces. Ryleigh Winland had two aces.

St. John swept by Southern

BELLAIRE — Southern Local posted a three-game sweep of the Irish on Monday by scores of 25-7, 25-10 and 25-10.

Gianna Metz had three points, three digs and an ace. Delaney Kemp had four points and three digs. Addison Kovach had five digs and two kills.
